Villanova kept their slim NCAA hopes alive by beating Big East doormat DePaul on a 3 pointer with 8 seconds to go. It was a pathetic performance by both the players and coaches. Now the fun begins. To make the Tournament they need to beat three top 10 teams: Marquette then Creighton then UCONN. Tonight, Marquette is -3.5/140.5. Tip in MSG is 9:30 pm eastern on FS1.
Marquette will be without Tyler Kolek who is nursing an oblique injury. Against Nova he scored 50 points and had 20 assists in 2 games. Not to worry, as Kam Jones and Josh Ighadaro have been scoring 70% of Marquette’s points since Kolek has been out. These guys (Marquette) scored 80 or more points in both wins this season over Villanova.
The Wildcats looked lethargic and lost defensively vs the worst team in the Big East. The coaching was so pathetic it was sickening. Can they right the ship? Losing Longino to an injury last night won’t help. I wouldn’t bet on it…BUT…I will take the Cats in the first half. Teams with byes tend to start slow and Nova will definitely be psyched for this game.
