The 10-13 Villanova Wildcats are on campus tonight to take on the 9-15 Blue Demons, a team they lost to on January 10 in Chicago 75-65. Tip is 8:30 pm eastern, Nova is -9.5/141.5 but the line keeps fluctuating between -8.5 and -9.5.
De Paul is on a 5 game losing streak but has been game in most of the losses. Nova has lost 3 straight all to ranked clubs and all were single digit losses. The prognosticators are split on who to take.
De Paul is led by Guard Umoja Gibson who has scored over 20 in his last 6. Da’Sean Nelson torched the Cats in Chicago scoring a career high over 20. Javan Johnson was clutch on January 10. Eral Penn tosses in about 10 per game. They are not tall nor are they a good rebounding team.
The Cats did not have Moore in the previous game. Plus, Nova is honoring both Jay Wright and Jalen Brunson tonight.
What Will Happen
De Paul will likely press the pace and test Nova’s rim defense. They may occasionally pressure the ball to see if they can turn over the Cats who have been turnover prone lately. For Villanova, they should benefit from friendly rims at home plus the emotion of the evening. As usual, the key will be to rebound and protect the ball. There is no excuses in this one. They should and will win. But…will they cover?
