Stars sent out a bunch....hundreds of thousands in $ of bad checks if you believe some. Disabled e-checks as well as tilt.

They did email people and tell them that they weren't good, but too late for some people. They deposited and then overdrew their account.

E-checks were permanently taken off at most sportsbooks I know of a couple months back. I know betjam got rid of theirs about two months ago.

Bank of America closed a bunch of peoples accounts who used e-checks to either deposit or receive cash from and put them in the check-system which basically every bank uses and you'll never get another checking account. A big "FU" for just gambling.

What is this country coming to? They sky might not be falling, but it's definitely getting closer.......careful if you have a cashout from poker on it's way. I'd email and ask if it's okay first.

Gambling911*** has learned that the US Attorney's office in New York is behind the recent issues related to Instant eChecks being cut off and checks bouncing from major online poker websites. This is a federal matter, not a state investigation as previously reported on *********** late this afternoon. Please be advised that this story is developing and we are doing our best to get information out to our readers. None of the details related to this investigation are known at this time.

The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York represents the United States and its agencies in civil and criminal litigation before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York . The Office files well over 1000 criminal cases each year, and is one of the busiest prosecutor's offices in the federal system.

The US Attorney's office out of New York has been especially aggressive in going after online gambling entities since 1998.

This office has also gone after payment processors for online gambling in the past including Neteller, once the most popular payment platform for Internet gambling sites. Gambling911.com was the first to break that story in 2007.

This was also the same office that indicted 21 online sportsbook owners in March of 1998. Only one, Jay Cohen, returned to face trial. He was ultimately sentenced to just under two years.

ePassporte, another online payment processing company that dealt heavily with poker websites, also claimed last year that it was under investigation by the US Attorney's office in New York.

While some online poker players feared potential legal trouble for attempting to deposit the Instant eChecks, there was some comfort in knowing that players were not adversely affected by the Neteller shutdown outside of being inconvenienced. Customers in some cases may have to pay a fee for the bad checks however.

None of the online sportsbooks or casinos appear to be affected by this the Instant eCheck situation.

The Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association (iMEGA.org) is monitoring this situation closely throughout the weekend and staying in close touch with Gambling911.com over this matter to determine what if any such an action might have on its current legal challenge against the US Government related to the "Unconstitutionality" of UIGEA (the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act).

i made an echeck deposit early this week to play a tournament. i woke up to this email.

Dear Jenau,

We have been informed that the following deposit could not be processed:

Reference Number : 249965526
Amount: $200.00
Date: 2009/06/02
Reason: BANK PROBLEMS

These funds were credited to your PokerStars account when you made your deposit request however due to a processing problem the transaction was never sent to your bank. As we didn't receive funds for this deposit, the amount of your unprocessed deposit has been deducted from your PokerStars account balance.

Please note that future eCheck deposits will not be affected by this return. Your eCheck deposits will continue to be credited to your PokerStars account balance as they did prior to receiving this return notification.

* If your PokerStars balance is less than $0.00:

If your current balance is less than $0.00, this means that you did not have sufficient funds available in your PokerStars account to repay the amount of your unprocessed deposit. All you have to do to complete repayment is make a deposit for the total amount owing. Your next deposit will automatically be applied toward your negative balance.

You may use any of the deposit options in the PokerStars Cashier to repay any funds still owing, including the eCheck option.

Transfers received from other players will also be applied towards any negative balance you have as well.

* Automatic re-presentment of your transaction to your bank if your balance is less than $0.00:

Since now you have a negative balance, you have to make a deposit through the Cashier or receive a transfer to bring your balance into a positive by 2009/06/13.

If this is not done, we will automatically re-present the total amount of your deposit to your bank. Please make sure there are enough funds in your bank account to ensure that the re-submitted charge will be successful.

The re-submitted charge can take up to 5 business days to be debited from your bank account.

If the funds are not available in your bank account to honor the re-submitted charge, we will re-submit this charge once more on approximately the first or the 15th of the month (whichever is sooner).

We apologize for the inconveniences this may have caused you.

If you have any questions, please email us at "PokerStars Support" <support@pokerstars.com>

Regards,

PokerStars Payments Department

So the regular issued checks are bouncing too from what I read on 2+2??

I made a cashout about a week and a half ago and deposited the Stars check into my checking acct on 6-01 and it cleared as far as I know. Cashed out again on 6-03 and noticed it was a little different as it was pending for over a day when usually it's instantly approved. Am I gonna have a problem with this check when it arrives? I know they use multiple processors so is it just the one particular one or all of them they use? Anyone know?

I just read the 2+2 thread about the BOA closing his account, and then placing on that chexx fraud list so that he basically is unable to open a checking account for 5 years. Unbelievable-
