The biggest online tournament in the history of online poker concluded a while ago.

The player "TheV0id" took home the 1.2 million dollar first place prize.

It gets better. He gets busted for cheating....online......lol. Nice work pokerstars. Have your grandaddy tournament hacked and won by a cheater....LOL

Here is their response:

The investigation into the WCOOP Main Event has now been concluded.

We have determined, based on the totality of evidence, that the tournament winner ?TheV0id? was in breach of the PokerStars Terms of Service.

In the interests of Game Integrity, ?TheV0id? has been disqualified from first place.

All other WCOOP Main Event prizewinners in addition to the player who originally bubbled in 415th place will therefore advance one place in the prize pool. The necessary financial adjustments to reflect the revised tournament places will be made within the next 24 hours.

Please note that we are unable to release further details of this investigation, for reasons of confidentiality and privacy.

There is a really long thread at 2+ about it. Something to do with multiple entries and playing from the same IP. Similar to the Zee Justin thing a few years back where guys were entering the same tournament with multiple entries, chip dumping, etc. I don't know enough to speculate and to be honest to care because I really don't play tournaments, I just find it ridiculous that they cannot curtail this.

I don't play poker, maybe one of you players can answer this naive question. How can you have enough faith in computer-generated cards to risk money on it?

BDB: Have you been following the story about Absolute Poker and the guys with superuser accounts? I posted a snippet in the poker forum but nobody seems to give a crap.

I wonder how many players 'The Void" knocked out of the tourney.

I sure in the hell would want my buy-in back. I believe it was $2500.00:scared :scared :com:

Wouldn't it suck to go from being a millionaire one day to being the biggest cheater ever in online poker the next. They should charge him with whatever possible, post his picture and name everywhere to get him banned from ever playing again:shrug:

Lawtchan brings up a good point, what about all the people that were cheated in this event:scared

I scanned it briefly. I would never play at absolute even before that. The whole 3 table max thing. And payout problems. But that was 3 years ago when I was vaguely interested. Now I have none.
Maybe its better now.

It doesn't surprise me. I still win online long term and have for a while but it doesn't surprise me when I hear this kind of stuff.

Where are all you internet players?

And don't forget, Stars is a sponsor here. They apparently have some serious security issues right now if their biggest event ever was won by a cheater!

Can't believe the lack of responses to this thread.

Collusion in online tournaments is very common. There are syndicates that have been busted that have many online "pro's" involved in the staking and setting up of these sorts of things. Just imagine playing a tournament, but having about 5-6 chances instead of just 1 to go deep. Its pathetic to think you are playing against these sorts of odds.

Another thing that is fairly common and illegal is players literally buying the accounts of someone deep in a tournament. A well known player named ActionJeff once purchased someones account who was in with about 30 left in a sunday million sometime ago. AJ went on to take 1st or 2nd I believe in this tournament and then this was outlawed but it is still quite commonplace. The worst part about this, is that you can be playing someone who will literally change gears 180 degrees because someone new is on their account finishing up the tournament, its really quite unfair.

So, the second place person was awarded first place - and the $1.2 million? Everyone else moved up one? Interesting. That would also even make me wonder...if the second place person had ties to the company, or some such thing. NO IDEA if that would be the case, just sayin.' I don't think I'd ever throw thousands of dollars at an online poker situation. How can you ever know anything for sure in that situation? In person, sure. Betting on games, etc? Sure. But online poker or casinos? Nah...not for me. Small $$, sure, that's fun. But thousands on an online poker situation? Pretty risky. Good luck to those brave enough to do it.
