montana -7: griz off to a better than expected start sitting atop early big sky standings at 4-1. vikings playing second road game in three day, fourth in last two weeks, had lost three in a row until big upset saturday in bozeman, beating montana state by one on a last second buzzer beater in a game that saw several second half lead changes. portland state played without leading scorer matt hauser in that game, who was out with an ankle sprain. no word on his status tonight but a full recovery is unlikely in the last 48 hours given the type of injury. vikings pulled off the upset mainly because second leading scorer holland woods picked up the slack scoring 30, more than twice his career average. but woods logged 38 minutes, and will be hard pressed to duplicate that effort tonight. also portland state likes to run full court pressure all game, and with back to back road games without hauser seems likely to blunt this edge. montana state's superior half court defense should be able to hold the vikings enough tonight to cover the number.

ps - i believe this play would also be a near qualifier under the billy blastoff system, with montana rated a 1.3 favorite @ sevenovertimes, and 1 point edge @ talisman reds (opening line of -6).
