Does anybody here give Byrd any chance? I was once a big fan of Chris Byrd. I thought he was underrated and under appreciated for his skills. The guy has more than proved he has the stones of an elephant. That being said, he is a fighter that always relied on skills, speed and reflexes. Looking over his last 5-6 fights, it's clear he has diminished quite a bit. A controversial dec over Frez and Golata were the start of it. He was in life and death w/McCline, won a dec in THE most boring fight of the decade w/TOS and was totally hammered by Wlad. In his prime Byrd would give this young kid alot of trouble and probably even beat him. With his skills diminished and fighting the new kid on the block in Germany, I don't see Byrd shocking the boxing world. I like Pov here to probably dominate and even possibly get Byrd out of there late in the fight. I took him @-550 (a bit wide) to win 5 hund but I'm fairly confident w/this bet. The Greek now has Pov @-600. If nothing else, it's a good parlay. Any thoughts?

I was jumping with joy as they announced this fight as i was hoping for much closer odds.
But -550 no i cant do that. I def like Povetkin more than Dimitrenko at these odds. Both should win but how can Povetkin lose this fight ?
IMO only if he injures himself. Byrd is good against hard punching not too fast big and immobile HW.
If Byrd thinks he can stand in front of Povetkin or even better on the ropes and dodge punches and counter : Good luck to him.
What i see in every Povetkin fight is if you stay infront of him and dont move away you are in trouble. Povetkin throws alot of accurate fast combinations. Donald was better suited to beat Povetkin with his hit and run style, if you have reach and can move you can potshot Povetkin coming in. It is not easy to do (Donald won maybe one round and when he was standing Povetkin was coming on, word is Povetkins shoulder was not 100 procent in this fight but Donald is hard to get out of there.)
The way i remember Byrd is tha the is very flexible and mobile with his upperbody, but his foot speed and moving around the ring are not his strong points.
If i had to lay these odds on a hw fight that would be the one.
Good luck

So Povetkin hurt his shoulder, that explains whe he was so inactive in this fight.

@tony
What you said concerning his style is absolutely right.
The way to fight Wladimir is to be quick on your fight, Brock was able to neutrolize him pretty good for the first few rounds with his foot movement.

Povetkin should win this fight, but -600 ist not that compelling.

I have posted this in the other thread :

Povetkin under 11.5 at plus 160 ? Not so good as Green for 300 but Povetkin has worked on his power as main goal after the Donald fight. Russian strength rowing coach was hired. Hopfully the russians know what they are doing but i like that style match up alot. Byrd stands in front of Povetkin with his diminished reflexes and reactions and no real power to keep Povetkin honest.
This can be over fast but than Byrd is tough getting floored from Mcline is no good sign. 600 to win a 1000.
