being that things have been a tad fractious around here of late, figured i`d lwish everyone an early happy st paddy`s day....
got a call from a chicago friend yesteday....told me he went to the st. patrick's day parade in chicago ....he said the river was dyed a beautiful shade of green.....
the crowds were very merry, and the silly hats, scarves, necklaces, and other items of clothing were imaginative and jolly....."an organized, yet delightfully disorganized" affair with a cast of hundreds of thousands.....
the crowds on the sidewalks were walking in both directions, since no one knew where one could go to get a good view of the actual parade....yet,everything was copacetic...a good time was had by all.....
he said,it was a great drinking holiday to welcome the beginning of spring......
a true "people's parade,"is how he put it...nothing religious or political...nothing partisan...no protests or ill feelings...no agendas...
in that spirit, happy st paddy`s day gents...
