"the bunker"
being that things have been a tad fractious around here of late, figured i`d lwish everyone an early happy st paddy`s day....

got a call from a chicago friend yesteday....told me he went to the st. patrick's day parade in chicago ....he said the river was dyed a beautiful shade of green.....

the crowds were very merry, and the silly hats, scarves, necklaces, and other items of clothing were imaginative and jolly....."an organized, yet delightfully disorganized" affair with a cast of hundreds of thousands.....

the crowds on the sidewalks were walking in both directions, since no one knew where one could go to get a good view of the actual parade....yet,everything was copacetic...a good time was had by all.....

he said,it was a great drinking holiday to welcome the beginning of spring......

a true "people's parade,"is how he put it...nothing religious or political...nothing partisan...no protests or ill feelings...no agendas...

in that spirit, happy st paddy`s day gents...

And to you, my fractious friend. Back in the saddle again after a week of fun in the sun, and preparing to slowly weed through the garbage you and Wayne have been propogating all week...:tongue

Since my heritage is only half-Irish - the other part is also a drinking part (German) - I'll raise a glass or two to alla y'all, and wish you the following toast:

"There are good ships,
and there are wood ships,
The ships that sail the sea.
But the best ships, are friendships,
And may they always be."

Cheers, friends. :toast:

Eddie - what horrible thing did I do or say to get back in your good graces? This is troubling.

Saul:

I may get angry with you on occasion (when you try to be like AR or some other faux neutral position) but you are like a son to me and I will always love you. On occasion, you will need some prodding or a gentle rebuke, but always know, as a member of a chosen tribe (albeit drunken) you and I are as one.

Now go watch "Arthur" to remind you of who you are. You are one of us, no matter what. Make your mistakes, but learn. Yes, learn.
