I've been waiting for a chance to bet against Chelsea winning a consecutive league title as their impressive start has been based on the talent that they have, but it's also based on a favorable schedule. Chelsea's issue is that they're another year older and that age showed last year when they couldn't handle their Champions League commitments and a weekend league game with any success at all. Their main goal this year will be their first Champions League title.
I finally got the chance to bet against Chelsea when a ridiculous story came out about Wayne Rooney leaving ManU and Chelsea jumped into a -140 favorite to win the league . And then the "ridiculous" story was confirmed by both manager. . . . . .and player. . . . .:facepalm:
But ManU has been w/o Rooney all season and although their start is considered to be a disappointing one, draws away at Fulham, Everton and Bolton will be considered a well-won point at the end of the season. Without Rooney, they're undefeated. Without Rooney, they've dropped 6 points in extra time.
So, I gotta bad price on my futures, but I still think there's value because there is nowhere for Rooney to go, so I think he will stay. . . and Chelsea's not entirely focused on the league and their old legs may not recover quickly. And if Chelsea doesn't win, there's only 3 other teams with a shot.
