Never really played preason games but I've heard quite a few on this site speak as to how profitable it can be. My question is how can you confidently cap preseason games? Besides limited trends and coaches records, whats there to go on. Players going in and out.... coaches not wanting to show to much of their offense.... starters playing one quarter or half later on. I would be interested in any input anyone would have on this subject.

the one thing I look at are the skill positions. QB, RB, WR. Are there any new players that want to prove themselves? I especially look at the possible QB matchups. I think that and coaching trends are the biggest keys.

Motivation, desire..... eg Spurrier v the 49ers....

U can get a pretty good read of what the rotation of QBs, starters then 2nd/3rd/4th stringers will be from reading well...if you see a big mismatch in talent and motivation not reflected by the line that's when I'd play..
