MJ-glad to have you back....In my opinion all projection tv really stink....however, that depends what you compare it to?? a plasma is top notch and once you get used to viewing games on it you cant go back...900 bucks seems like a deal...I say hold off until you kill your man and go for the plasma..hehe.

Gl and thanx for everything.

i have done extensive research on this topic my friend. i was looking at buying a big ass tv a while back and explored every option.

projection tv: they are cheaper. that is the only good thing about them.

HDTV. much better picture, no faded areas on the screen from different spots in the room. also, ALL TV will be going to a digital format by the year 2006, with major starts to this happening as early as 2003. when this occurs you will not see the extra clarity and definition in a projection tv as they can not handle the technology, if you want to you could buy a converter for about 600 bucks. and have that bulky thing on the tv stand... (yucky) or do what i did and shell out the extra dough NOW for the HD/digital tv. It will last many years longer than a projection tv will and you will not have to shell out the xtra dough for the converter later on down the road. digital or hdtvs run about 1500-2500 for a above average one around 50-54 inches. so you in actuality are paying about the same once the year 2006 hits, except you are just getting better quality earlier on and have a longer lifespan on it.

my personal favorite choice would be the Panasoncic 53" HDTV. it is about 2200$ and worth every penny.and buy the looks of your baseball picks last nite you can well afford it.

The two I like Jack our Hitachi and Sony. you will not get them for 900 bucks unless there a year or more old. Both these makes now are ready when your cable company is for digital. My company started a year ago. My pitcure is great, much better then old way. These two makes have put so much into there new models. There getting close to the old tupes as far as ware you stand in the room or sit. Was just down to our biggest sellers of T V in town. They have been for last 40 years. Even Best Buy cant beat-em. Could not believe how 6/8 months changed things with these new models. Very glad I held off buying last November. But this time I think its go get it time. And yes they have sets from 889 and up, projection that is. Giving the 1600 to 1800 hundred is worth it. Wait till you watch a move.

I've got a 60' Mitsubishi I've had for 6 years now. Never had a single problem with it and eveyone that comes over can't believe how good the picture is even at 45 degree angles. I know the technology has come a lot further sinceI bought mine and the price has declined. I don't feel the investment into a HDTV is worth it at the moment since you can rarely find a program a day that is being broadcast in it. By the time that everything is being boadcast in such, the price of those units will be down to what the projections are now. By the projection now for a lot less, enjoy it now, and then worry about the HDTV when there are actual programs on a regular basis to view in said format. Enjoy!

I have a 52" RCA and it is fine. I bought it from Best Buy a year ago for $1300 so $900 is a great price.
I buy RCA everything, that way I only need 1 controller
