Public Perception

Many of my other handicapping angles are on hold because lately, I've been trying to handicap public perception. At times, it just seems that Vegas has the uncanny knack of using our logic against us.

Last night, Fletcher had COLO -12 over Kansas State listed as one of his 5 star plays. I went back and looked at the matchup and saw that COLO was absolutely horrible. I didn't see one redeeming statistic in their favor.

So why were they giving 11 points? Huh?

COLO won/covered.

Tonight, UNCC -8 hosts L'vlle.

In their last 10 games, UNCC is 8-2 ATS, L'vlle is 2-8 ATS. Huh?

In their last 6 games, UNCC is 6-0 ATS, L'vlle is 1-5 ATS.

In the L 3 recent meetings, UNCC is 2-1 SU/ATS. Huh?

On the road, L'vlle is 1-4 ATS.

At home, UNCC is 4-2 ATS. Huh?

In L 5 road games (tough venue), UNCC is 4-1 ATS.

In L 2 road games, L'vlle is 0-2 ATS. Huh?

UNCC is playing like a title contender and L'vlle is on ATS life support.

Why is UNCC only giving 8 points? Huh?

The line opened at 9 and has already moved a full point in favor of L'vlle. I think the line move may tell the tale in this one.

YEAH, BUDDY I AGREE...THIS LINE JUMPED OUT AT ME AS WELL.....SEEMED TO LOW....BUT I WILL NOT LET IT AFFECT MY PLAY ON UNCC. IM STILL ON THEM, BECAUSE I HAVE PROVEN TO MUSELF OVER AND OVER AGAIN WITH NUMEROUS LOSSES BY PASSING ON GAMES OR SWITCHING MY BET ACCORDING TO A SCREWED UP LINE. FUK IT..I DONT KNOW HOW TO READ INTO AN OFF-LINE AND IM NOT SURE ANYONE DOES. ILL JUST STICK TO MY PLAY AND THE HELL WITH THE LINE.
MY GUT FEELING ON WHY THIS LINE IS LOW.....IS BECAUSE OF PUBLIC PERCEPTION....LOUISVILE IS A WELL KNOWN PROGRAM AND EVEN MORE SO WITH PITINO COACHING. MOST SQUARE BETTORS WILL BET THEM ON NAME ONLY REGARDLESS OF HOW BAD THEY ARE ...ESPECIALLY WHEN PLAYING A NOT SO WELL KNOWN TEAM LIKE UNCC[WHO??]...GET MY DRIFT?

Hey brother, you make a good point about name recognition.

I really didn't think of that too much.

Lot of people still bet North Carolina based on name recognition and they lick the bucket game after game.

Same theory can well be applied to Louisville and Pitino.

Ugly is ugly and bad is bad.

If a girl is ugly and changes her name to Wanda Whoever, she is still ugly.

If Louisville cant play basketball, having LOUISVILLE printed on their jersey doesnt automatically make them worthy of a "W".

That line move might be based on name recognition.

I think you might be right on this one.
