I have a knack for quickly building a good rep with colleagues and subordinates and I think it's simply that I am a very honest person. At the different places I've worked, I've always noticed that upper management tries to keep things "hush" that have no reason to be. When my employees ask me my opinion on things, I give them my take. While I might be the boss, I see myself as part of the team and part of the responsibillity of that role is help them understand things.

Also, since I have an MBA in personal finance, I help people understand IRA investing and it really helps break the ice on a personal level. I think it is really important to treat people well and try to identify with them on some level.

I don't work in that field or anything, I just know a lot about it since it was the focus of my studies. It blows my mind that we're not taught this kind of stuff in HS, so I always try to help people that are willing to listen.

Any of you business types read that book "Fooled By Randomness"?

And if so, any take on it?
