Why is Parnevik considered to be in 9th place? Isn't -5 tied for 4th place behind all the guys tied for 3rd at -6? I am confused here? You may remember that I had Parnevik to place this weekend... Thanks in advance.

Sub,
It's always been that way! Has to do with $ winnings, primarily I think. A 6-way tie for 3rd means the next place is T9th. The players tied for 3rd get winnings based on the 3rd through 8th place moneys added up and divided by 6. The 9th pplace finishers get the 9th through ? winnings divy-ed up the same way!

So your place bet isn't a winner. I don't play them much, but watch out for the rules of these bets as some even divide the winnings when your guy ties for the 4th/5th spot (whichever is the last place they pay), from what I've heard!

Of course, there was no money on it in times past.

Thanks for your help. Oh, and buckeye, they do divide the winnings in the event of a tie. At least most books do.

Olympic is the one that pays full for all 4th place ties...

I wonder what the record is for ties at 4th place?

cheers
