Question about golf wagering

I have an account with WWTS. They have listed under the Golf/Nascar section something called Event Matchups, where it lists two golfers and odds. For example:

Leonard +135
Garcia -155

I am not rookie to gambling, but am still a little confused on a few points.....

Are these matchups 72-hole wagers? Am I basically betting who finishes with the lower score? If I bet Leonard, and Garcia doesnt make the cut and Leonard does, do I automatically win? What if neither make the cut?

Also, in the future bet area, they have Tiger Woods listed at +140. Under the event matchups, they have the following:

Woods +180
All others -230

What am I missing here? Are "all others" a way to bet that Tiger doesnt win the Masters? If so, why would they offer Tiger at +140 in the futures section, but offer +180 in the event matchup?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Kotysdad,

Yes, these are 72-hole wagers. They are decided by the # of holes played and if both play the same # of holes, then the lowest scores decides.

It is quite a large difference between +140 and +180, but the reason for it is that the 72-hole matchup is decided after 72-holes, while the future is decided after 72-holes, plus any playoff holes necessary to determine the event winner. So if Tiger was tied after 72-hole and won the playoff, the future bet would win, but the matchup bet would be a push.

Stan,

Thanks for the info. Just to make sure I totally understand one point though ... on the events matchup, both players need to make the cut to have action? Even if I bet Leonard and he makes the cut while Garcia does not make the cut, then there is no action. Is this correct?

Thanks again. I am new to this forum, mostly been hanging around the college hoops section. I love golf, so I look forward to reading what you all have to say this year. From what I have read so far, you guys know your stuff.

If one player makes the cut and the other doesn't your bet on the player who made the cut is a winner. If both players don't make the cut the one with the lowest score is the winner. Hope this helps.

rrc...

Thanks. I understand now. I misread Stan's answer, but now both make perfect sense.

Thanks for the help.
