Question about "show" bets

If say 5 golfers finish in a tie for 4th, does the book pay the odds on each of the 5 golfers for show, or is there some sort of tiebreaker to only pay one of the 5 golfers?

I have not encountered this yet in my golf wagering since I am fairly new to this, but I am sure it has occurred before, so I figured I might as well ask before I get stuck wondering why my golfer didnt pay when I thought he should have.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Stanley .... Thanks for the info. I was hoping it would be the latter since the part about dividing the payouts by 5 would be very difficult to compute given that the odds can change on a golfer from hour to hour. I cant even begin to imagine how they would determine exactly what they are dividing by 5. That might be why Oly pays out on all 5 golfers who are tied.

Stanley,

The part about dividing by 5 .... are you saying that if I have one of the 5 golfers for $100 at say 10-1, that instead of getting my full $1000 that I would only get $200.

If so, I am glad I have an account with Olympic

That other option is unfair to the better I think. But I think I understand your response now. Had to think about it for a second after my first response. As a mathematician I was of course thinking the solution was harder than it was.

Thanks again. I appreciate the help.

OK, ignore my recent babblings lol. The non-Olympic method of dividing the payouts is fair. Its just that the Oly method of paying full price on all ties is extremely generous to the bettors.

I think I need a vacation from work!!!!! Its frying my brain.
