Odelay...

Hey I was curious as to what each individual classifies a "unit", monetary value. With me it all depends, if i am mired in a losing streak my "unit" drops down to 25.00 per play, now If I am winning consistently It may go up to 100.00 and no more than that. I guess it all depends on your bankroll and none of that 2 % crap....with that even with great money mgmt, itll take forever to make anything, unless that 2% is 2% of $100,000, but with most of us, 2% is considerably less.

Also, how often do you all make withdrawals? Is it after an awesome day in which you somehow doubled your bankroll? DO you withdraw everything that is over what you started with? Or do you wait until seasons end? With me If i have a killer day I withdraw all that exceeds my original deposit, and I usually make 1 Withdrawal per week.

I don't think it's really relevant what a person's unit size is. Everyone's situation is different. I know plenty of folks that bet $25/unit and numerous others that bet $500 unit. It's not at all surprising to see the $25/unit player wind up with a better W/L % than the heavy hitter. It boils down to what you are comfortable with. If you're losing sleep b/c of your unit size, then I would really think hard about decreasing the size. Took me nearly 5 yrs. to find the exact amount I was comfortable with.

Unit size is different for each person. For me it's 100.00. And I ask for a check to be sent each time I get into the positive over 500.00. That's pretty much the same way I bet in a casino. If I get a nice size win over a short period of time, I will walk away. Mostly because I feel I'm just going to lose it back- don't really believe in a hot table over a long period of time.

The reason I have picked 500 is that I seem to get gutsy when I have more in an account and my money management goes out the window. Anyone else have the same sort or problem?

Mickstr68, I have to agree with you. My units are $50. The hardest thing for me to learn was how to withdraw my winnings. When you build up your account you have a tendency to play more games or increase your unit amounts. Translated that means my monymanagment skils have gotten buried by my greed. During Collage Basketball season last year at one point I was up over $2000. I never withdres a penny of it and by the end of the season I had $185 left. After looing back at what I did wrong picking games I realized I did nothing wrong I just increased my units, somtimes as high as $200 per play. This year during baseball I have stuck with my $50 units and have withdrawn $500 twice, and I am still ahead. In my case it isn't so much monymanagement as much as discipline.
