And any other lawn care experts here at Jacks.
I took out 60 feet of overgrown hedge at one of my rental houses.
What's my best solution for removing the stumps?
Thanks fellas.... :toast:

Wanted to stay away from yanking them out with a truck. I have a 2001 ford ranger that I use as my work truck. It's a 5 speed and would probably do the job-- but that still means digging to get the chain on to pull the stumps out.
With chain sawing the hedges down and hauling it to the compost facility I'm 10 hours into the job.
I'll probably hire out the stump removal.

if they are the wide base evergreens is best to grind them out..

have dug a many out and used the truck where I could..

you can cut them even with the ground and drill holes in them and pour heavy mix roundup in them to rot them out or prevent regrowth.

depends on what you are doing with the clean space

good luck...tree base evergreens are a mothertrucker

Question for Old School

Maybe keep the stumps in case you want to get prosthetic hedges in the future like lieutenant Dan?

Great idea, but the stumps need to go.
I've hated those hedges since I bought the place 15 years ago and got tired of either trimming them myself or paying someone to do it, so they're gone now.
House doesn't currently have a garage so by clearing the hedges any future owner once I sell will have much easier access to building one.

Not evergreens; they are a tall, thin shafted leafy type hedge.
I should have taken a picture of the stumps before posting.
Have got to go by there today so I'll try and remember to do that.
I like the idea of cutting them at ground level then using round up to kill them, but that takes time and I'd rather get them out of there as soon as I can
