What is your cutoff, if you even have one? Do you have a set amount you'd like to win each day and then call it, or do you just take all your bets no matter what? I was up a good chunk after the noon games today and gave serious thought to just calling it a day. Instead I got greedy and kept betting, gave most back at 330 and then got some back tonight, but not as good of a day as if I had just quit early. Obviously less fun that way, but more money in my pocket. Just wondering your opinions.

I've learned through the years that less is more.. if you can pick just a few games to play instead of the majority of the card you will do much better in the long run.

The more games your playing, the more risk your taking. I prefer to increase my wagers and pick my spots through the week. Don't bet games to just have the action on them. You really should bet only the solid few that you really have an edge with. This is just my advice, take it for what's it with. As always best of luck!

Picking your spots is great advice. Of course, I don't do that. :142smilie

But seriously, even though I have action on a lot of games each week, I have a limit. I did well today and won't do any NFL games tomorrow. Well, maybe a couple. But not a full card as I usually do.

There have been several times when I wish I had just put it all on three games though. Would have cashed big if I had. But, I like the action.

One of the very hardest things to do, is to be disciplined! Never bet anything just for the action. Lessons I have learned the hard way. If you want to make money betting sports. You have to spend the time researching the games and looking for trends. At best you can get an edge on about 10-15% of games. So there is no need to waste money on games that end up a coin flip. That is why picking and choosing your spots is important to showing a profit at the end of the year.

1. Get on the right side

2. Reduce your risk

3. Don't be a homer

4. Reduce the plays you make.

5. Reduce the no name college football games Mon-Fri. These games are for action.

6. When you lose, don't chase late plays.

7. Do not handcuff yourself with one type of wager. Be versatile.

8. Do not play parlays and teasers. Just do not !

9. Do not wager on games where you have not seen both teams play one full game.

10. No woman, No children

11. Cash the ticket.

12. Don't be a pussy

I knew one guy who did this as a "pro". He said one thing: "I have to get paid every week".

He treated it like a paycheck Monday-Sunday. If he made payroll by Tuesday, he was done!

I just find it funny that your average guy will work 40 hours a week to make 'x' dollars, and he's okay with that number. BUT, he will wager a days, or even a weeks pay on some ball games! Makes no sense at all.

You're exactly right. I'm a huge trend player. I didn't mean to make it sound like I don't do any research.

And I do need to slow down on weekday games and parlays.
