I just got a Sony SXRD 55" HDTV and love it.

My question is what do you use for your "wide" setting on your remotes.

I have Comcast cable and the entire screen is filled when a HD program is on. Other shows that aren't HD there is a vertical black stripe on either side of the picture unless I use the "wide" button and pick "full" "zoom" or "wide zoom".

Gets to be a pain to change back and forth so I was wondering what others do with their screen settings.

I mainly leave it on full except for the few cases where I turn it to Wide Zoom on ESPN so I can read the ticker on the bottom. Yeah the cable company's remote doesn't have a button for me to hit to change my mode, but I just keep the tv remote close by so I can hit the button to change it if I need to.

I guess it is just a preference in the end, most of the time mine is on Full or Wide Zoom

antenna switch on remote should take you in and out of hi-def and reg. anolog cable..

your presets should remain from any switch

Sony people should be real good about walking you through any problems..and lessens the learning curve..

enjoy.......

you should never have to change the picture, i use directv and you can preset the tv to alway format to the screen. the only time you should have bars on the sides is when you are watching a HD channel that wasnt filmed in HD. my locals are like that during the day or during a commercial.
