question on windows xp home

you'll have to excuse me but i'm not really up on todays tech stuff, and i can't understand these phone techs that try to help you. so here goes, on windows xp home my startup menu is overloaded with unneeded programs. how do i get in their to remove them.:shrug:

Click the start button. Click run. Type in msconfig and enter. There should be a startup tab with all of the startup items. Uncheck the ones you don't want to start up.
