I know this question has been addressed before.....but I keep seeing where people have been terminated from sportsbooks for betting "Steam". Could someone please explain what "steam" is. I have been wagering for a long time....but strictly for enjoyment. If it is possible to actually make some money by betting steam....I would really like to know how.

Any ideas?

Bluegrass!
I find that hard to believe that there are folks who've had their account wiped out b/c they were betting into a rising or falling number...

Tc...that is unethical for sportsbooks to do that. Theythink guyes who use "steam" are wiseguys. I say. "what wrong with beinga wiseguy?"
I once had a local book shut me down because I was going AGAINST the line movements (the oposite of steam). I was middling games!
You can't win! Books believe THEY have to win or something is wrong.

The sad truth is that if a player finally manages to find a method where he can actually beat the book, a lot of the books will simply turn down that player's action.

The same is now true in most Las Vegas casinos. I saw a report that said that, technically, card-counting in Blackjack is not illegal as long as no 'device' is used to assist the player. So, if you can card count in your head and win you can keep on playing and winning - right? Wrong! The casinos watch people who win 'too frequently' and will ask them to 'please, don't come back'. As the corporate suits take over more and more of the gaming industry, we will see this become the new standard; IF YOU'RE A WINNER - GET THE F**K OUT!!

I believe the true steam play is when a group with enough money likes side a or total a. They will bet enough through the day to drive team b up or down 2 or 3 points on a side or in the old days as much as 10 on a total. Right at gametime they come in stronger on the team they really liked in the first place. Now they have better odds and a chance to middle which will kill a bookie. It's legal but a lot of bettors that don't know what's going on also get killed in the process.

My ultimate goal is to be able to come to the forum and tell you guys how I was paid by a sportsbook and asked not to come back. I keep seem people jump all over a sportsbook book for closing a player's account after payment. Myself would consider it a compliment.

Unless you got big time bucks to play. Dont worry. And you have to be cleaning them out hard every day or two. Hell there are people who do this for a liveing and there not asked to go away. For every guy lucky enough to hit em hard. There are 80 loosers. Some of these stories have been passed on down through the years. Many are just that stories.
