phoenix, thanks for asking about the MJQ or Mad Jack Quotient. It is a formula that I use to grade everyone's daily cards in the baseball forum in order to give some recognition to the hot cappers and the consistent cappers and also to let others know who is hot.
Here is how I calculate it..............
I simply give every posted play in someone's card a value of 1 unit. It doesn't matter whether it was listed as a 1 unit play, a 20 unit play or not given any units at all.....to me all plays are for 1 unit. In the morning, I simply add up everyone's card based on all plays being for 1 unit.
If people do not list what lines they are using, I just use the lines that are available to me. I also ignore all parlays, whether they win or lose because all baseball parlays pay different amounts based on the chosen teams.
For example if Tiger posted the following card:
5 units Detroit(+145)....win
3 units Cleveland(-160)...loss
3 units Yankees(-200)....loss
3 units Atlanta(-135)......win
2 units over 9 Baltimore(-110)...win
1 unit under 10.5 Tampa(-120)...loss
1 unit Parlay Boston/Cubs(pays 2.24)......win
I start by throwing out the parlay altogether, then I assign each of the plays a value of one unit. So..............
Detroit(+145)win>>> +1.45 MJQ
Cleveland(-160)loss>>> -1.60 MJQ
Yankees(-200)loss>>>> -2.00 MJQ
Atlanta(-135)win>>> +1.00 MJQ
Baltimore Total win>>> +1.00 MJQ
Tampa Total loss>>>>> -1.20 MJQ
Total for this card.....-1.35 MJQ's
Then I list all those with MJQ's of 2.00 or better on the daily leaderboard.
It is not a perfect system, but I feel it will accomplish the goals that I want and that is to give some recognition to the hot cappers and to the consistent cappers and to let everyone know who is hot in case someone wishes to coat-tail.
I should add that in your specific case, you posted several picks on your Sunday card long after the games had started so I ignored those picks and gave you 1 MJQ for your Seattle over and 1 MJQ for your St.Louis over for a Sunday total of 2.00 and therefore you appeared on the Sunday Leader Board.
Again, thanks for asking and continued good luck,
Tiger
