In 1999 Hasim Rahman was a young, inexperienced fighter with a lot of potential who had been criticized for being too cautious in fights and in an attempt to be more crowd pleasing, stood toe to toe Kazakhstan born and devastating puncher,Oleg Maskaev, giving the slow Maskaev an opportunity to win that he may not have had, had Rahman chosen to stay on the outside and box.
........................................................................

I posted this paragraph in frankys thread and now here is why I believe it contains the winning wager.

Rahman cannot stay on the outside and box. He is not diciplined enough. He also does not listen to his corner well. It will be his downfall in this fight. Oleg hammered him once. Six years later , Oleg to hammer him again.

Rahman looks puffy and stupid to me now. Rahman looking for the one punch KO just like he caught Lewis. He will not change his style.

Oleg should get plenty of chances to land one on Rahmans chin. Rahman does not have the best chin in town.

As the famous Tyson once said " Everyone has a plan until they get hit "

Rahmans plan to box will go out the window in the first round. They will be toe to toe and the best man wins.

Thanks Mike.

I think it's likely that the fight lasts over 9,5 rounds, and naturally, since most people believes in under 9,5 rounds, I see good value in playing the other option.

Rahman-Maskaev Over 9,5 +180, I'll play it medium

I must admit when I read that elephant guys post it made sense to me so I coatailed that play.

So thanks Box for bringing around more winners.

Fight Summary - + $1,451.00

I have never seen Oleg fight before until last night but I have seen Rahman many times over his career. I looked for the information in archives and was able to find something that took me to a winning wager. The key words were " had Rahman chosen to stay outside and box " he would have won.

Early in the fight he was hurting Oleg with that jab. Bam Bam Bam.
Oleg was getting busted up and looked worried. Oleg knew however that all he had to do was weather the storm and that his time was coming. Oleg is a slow plodding puncher, but none of us can imagine how hard that guy hits.

Just a side note - I really can't take Lewis when he was a fighter and I despise him even more as a announcer.

When I made this play I was visualizing Oleg at some point pounding on Rahman and Rahman not being able to defend himself. I tell you sweet justice when in that 12th round Oleg
who never gave up, smashed Rahman over and over with that big right hand and the fight was over.

Sweet win, sweet payday with no hedging.

I have been thinking about this alot.

I have decided in 2006 when I get a big win not to draw attention to myself. Be more humble. Fit in with the crowd and just go with the flow. Not get on a high horse, or toot my own horn.

awww fawk it ...

There was ease in KOD's manner as he stepped into his place;
There was pride in KOD's bearing and a smile on KOD's face,
And when, responding to the cheers, he lightly doffed his hat,
No stranger in the crowd could doubt `twas KOD at the bat.

Oh! somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light. And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;

But there is joy at Madjacks -- KOD just knocked it out.

:s4: I bet the stiff Awesome job to say the least with your 3 bets. If the fight went the whole 12 rounds who do you think would have won? I only follwed the early round. Again congrats on your 3 picks.

maskaev was ahead on two cards so he would have won anyway, which I found a little suprising, but anyways good win.

thanks Woodson glad you cashed.

I had a bad experience not meeting whineguy so I will pass on the beers.

I think it keeps me half way sane.

The plays that I post are the plays that I make. Last year was my best money making year and I hope to repeat that this year, especially with football coming up. I may take this money and put it on the first college game I have been looking at now for over a month.

I really do love boxing also, especially heavyweights and middle weight where belts are on the line.

Tailing a guys plays and possibly going in the soup goes with the territory. However, I feel your pain. Bout 2 months ago I heartily recommended Verquain Kimbrough, who got put to sleep. I believe GW tailed, and I did not feel good about that. I lost a nice bit of coin, but it be's that way. At any rate, I shall clock your work with the pigskin action. Football, the NFL in particular, is quite difficult to beat, IMHO. Hope your are on it this year. GL.
