Going against conventional wisdom here, but St.Louis has the players and the talent to put a whippin' on the Philadelphia Eagles. They've got one of the best QB's in the league. They've got probably the best running back in the league, and there's no doubt they have the best trio of receivers with Holt, Bruce, and Hakim. If ya add it all up, it's hard to argue that another offense in the league is more talented.

It is not an offense a defense wants to face shorthanded, but the Eagles might be without top cover corner Troy Vincent after he hyperextended a knee during Thursday's practice. He is questionable and if he can't play, nickel back Al Harris will start. That means that either William Hampton or rookie free agent Darrel Crutchfield would be the nickel. Whoever it is will have a big bull's-eye on their back.

On the other side of the ball, the Eagles have a new player in the middle -- Hank Fraley -- and he's going to see some things he's never before seen. He needs to be stout at the point of attack and must call out directives to his linemates.

The Rams lack a true pass-rushing threat -- end Grant Wistrom is doubtful for game action and No. 1 pick Damione Lewis is the backup at defensive tackle -- and the Eagles have have an opportunity to pound, pound, pound.

The Rams are going to load up and throw on the Eagles in this one. No getting around that. And unless the Eagles are able to generate a substantial pass rush from a front four that has the ability to be dominating, Warner will shred the secondary to pieces.

IN summary, you've got an extremely powerful and explosive offense going up against an average defense that is plagued with injuries in key positions. Philly, however, will be going against a Ram's defense that is average at best. They have always had problems on the defensive side of the ball, and didn't improve themselves very much with this year's draft.

All in all, this should be a game where quite a few points are scored, and that is why I'm taking the OVER...
