Does anyone know if Osgood is going to be in the net tonight for the Isles? I have
heard Richter is out with concussion symptoms, which means Blackburn is in net tonight for the Rangers. I am still leaning towards the Rangers +1/2 goal, as these rival games usually go down to the wire. I would have alittle more confidence on this wager if Richter were playing. Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated. I still keep waiting for the Rangers to explode and go on a winning streak heading into the final stretch. Maybe tonights the night!
UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- Most likely headed to the playoffs for the first time in eight years, the New York Islanders look to spoil the New York Rangers' postseason aspirations Monday night in the fifth and final meeting of the season at Nassau Coliseum.

New York is sixth in the Eastern Conference, two points ahead of New Jersey. The Islanders have not made the playoffs since 1993-94 when they were outscored, 22-3, by the Rangers in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.

The Islanders are 5-2-0-1 since a three-game losing streak.

On Saturday afternoon, against the trapping style of Minnesota, the Islanders posted a 2-1 victory as Mark Parrish scored the game-winner and Chris Osgood made 28 saves.

The Rangers are tied with Buffalo for 10th in the East, three points behind Montreal for the eighth and final playoff slot.

New York caught two breaks over the weekend when ninth-place Washington lost at Pittsburgh on Sunday and Montreal got only one out of a possible four points over the weekend.

Washington is one point ahead of the Rangers.

The Rangers are coming off Friday's brutal 5-2 home loss to Atlanta, which was their 10th in 14 games since the Olympic break (4-9-0-1).

The game started badly as starting goaltender Mike Richter was forced to leave after taking a slap shot off the right side of his helmet. Richter was diagnosed with a laceration above his right ear and a mild headache.

Without Richter, the Rangers fell behind, 4-0, after two periods and goals by Eric Lindros and Pavel Bure prevented them from being shutout for the sixth time this season.

Rookie Dan Blackburn replaced Richter on Friday and allowed five goals on 31 shots to fall to 7-12-0. Blackburn is expected to start Monday.

The Rangers and Islanders have split four meetings this season with the road team winning each. The Rangers have won last five meetings here since December 23, 1999.
