the rest.....

Its funny how Alabama is the "#1" team but will be probably a 2 score underdog to Florida on a neutral field. That is better than how Penn State would have fared however. USC doesn't have an offense and squeaked by 2 mediocre teams the last week. A loss to Oregon State is inexcusable. However, I think they are still better than Alabama.

I like Tech's chances at OU next weekend IF they can slow down OU to some extent. OU beats Texas 2 outta 3 times and they both have 1 loss. I think if OU beats Tech and Okie State at Stillwater, they deserve #2 status.

Here is a scenario that is somewhat likely -- Assume all 3 big12 schools have 1 loss. Texas goes to Big12 championship and loses to Mizzou. Who goes to play Florida? In my view -- Oklahoma should. And if Okie loses to Mizzou, Texas should go. But there are still many games to be played.

5 best teams imo:

Florida
Texas
Okie
USC

Bama and TT are not championship caliber teams imo.

Last I checked Texas won on the field. To rank OU over Texas is absurd. Why play the damn game then. Of course you are an OU fan so....

OU will beat Tech and the politicking will begin.

If Mizzou won the Big 12 title game another Big 12 team would go, but I dont see those whackos allowing a non-conference winner to play. Of course if Oregon State wins out USC isnt even a conference winner...they may not have a choice.

Only conference champs should have a shot at the nat'l title imo.

Maybe...but when 2 of the BCS conferences dont have championship games and you have these conferences to big for teams to play each other it is a mess. Last year LSU only went to the title game because of that logic and Georgia got shafted when they didnt even get to play LSU.

This year - can anyone really say Penn State would deserve a shot over any of those Big 12 South teams. Remember as well as to the Big 12 we are talking about a tiebreaker based on BCS ranking - it isnt like the 2 who lose out are unworthy. If they were in the other division it would have been a cakewalk.

Ok, so there are some situations where a conference non-champ should get a shot at the title, but backing into the title game by losing your conference title game is flat out lame.

A loss to Oregon State is inexcusable.

No worse than Florida who lost at home to a Mississipi team that is 6-4 and 3-3 in conference.

Oregon St. is 7-3 and 6-1 in confernce and USC was on the road.

Agree it was a bad loss and the Pac-10 is definitely down.

Provided they both dont lose before going into the SEC title game, the winner is one part of the title game.

Then it's between USC and the Big 12 schools for the other team. USC can't even get in because they won't win their division if orgeon st. doesn't lose at Arizona or at home to Oregon.

I'd love to see Tech win at Oklahoma and win out. That would solve everything and the BCS gets a pass for this year at least. That would set up Penn St. and USC in the Rose Bowl where you can make a mint laying the 7 or 8 with the Trojans.

Florida is probably the best team, but even though the Pac 10 is down, so is the SEC. I would love to see Tech win out, but that game against Oklahoma is gonna be rough.

And why isn't Tech ranked #1. What more can they have done and what exactly has Florida done that's better?

But maybe we should hold out until after the Apple Cup before trying to sort things out.
