Read this before opening an account at MVP

I signed up for a wagering account at MVP on Weds night, but didn't make a deposit. The next day I went to work only to come home to an angry wife and father in law. It turns out MVP called my house trying to solicite a deposit. In all of my years of betting sports with numerous outfits this is the first time a sportsbook that I joined called and tried to solicite a deposit. They disclosed that I opened an account the previous day. After hearing this I was ripping mad. I checked the caller ID# and called back. After being transferred back and forth to the same departments I finally spoke with a Louie in customer service. He explained that they called to offer me a $200 match bonus if I deposit $200. Are you F*KN kidding me? I then asked what kind of half ass operation they have if they need to call my house to solicite a deposit. He explained they were doing me a favor by offering such a promo. The best is when he told me that I shouldn't have put me REAL phone # when signing up for an account. OK that makes a lot of sense. First off the phone # is required, also if I had an intention of making a deposit why would I want incorrect info for my account. Hey I could understand a call if a deposit I made had a problem or they couldn't send a withdrawl. That's fine, but what they did was bullshi*. I asked to speak with a supervisor at 9:00 PM yesterday but suprisingly a manager wasn't there (sure). I then sent an e-mail requesting that a manager e-mail me back and further address the issue. Today I didn't get an e-mail from a manager, rather a solicitation for the $200 matchplay. After reading this some may not think MVP was out of line by calling. Some of you who would prefer that your online sportsbook not call your house and disclose information as mentioned earlier should really think about this before signing up with them. Out of the sites I have accounts with that are mentioned on MadJacks ( Pinnacle, Gibraltor, VIP, Bet Jamaica, and Olympic)all have had the class not to follow such desperate business tactics. I'm not holding my breath that someone in authority at MVP ever replies to my request.

After 3 more e-mails I have yet to get a response from a manager. Looking at their website they have a privacy section. Here is an exert, "When we ask you for contact information such as your name, your e-mail address or unique identifiers such as your social security number, we use it to send you requested information about our company or to contact you WHEN NECESSARY. That information is never made available to third parties.

We may occasionally send you e-mail providing information about our site and services, news, special promotions, etc. We run contests on our site in which we also ask visitors for contact information. This data is used to send site visitors information about MVP Sportsbook."

Either they thought it was necessary to call my house and solicit a deposit or their privacy statement is for the birds.

I just got word that a buddy of mine opened an account today with MVP and didn't make a deposit. I kid you not, two hours after he opened his account, he came home to a message from MVP on his answering machine. It was Victor from MVP and if he needed assistance with a deposit to call. Again those who live alone or their family doesn't mind crap like this may find this to be a minor issue. On the other hand those of us who want to keep this discrete will find this troublesome. In my friend's case he lives alone. Still, leaving a message in both mentioned situations is bush league. It will make me happy if someone who was considering opening an account with them reads this and reconsiders. Laugh if you want but something like this can really cause serious problems with family members. Luckily for me it's been resolved with the wife!

They are very much lacking in the e mail response department. They seldom even answer (mine), much less get a response from a manager. Seems they haven't had all of their other chit together , lately , either.

WSEX callled me after I deposited to confirm it was me depositing. Fortunately I don't hide this kinda thing from my wife but I can see where this could be a problem for some. A few of the guys I work with try to gamble secretly and it's pretty tough to do.....especially if the book is calling your house.

Beware the bastards at Mvp will give or sell your e-mail address also. I get unwanted e-mails from several services now and I know it was MVP. That is bullshit. If you book with them do not use your regular e-mail. BASTARDS! :fingerc:

Bet Royal was the book that called me at 7:00 a.m. on a saturday morning.... was only the time of the call that was annoying, everyone in the house knows i gamble (and LOUDLY at times ;) )

they called back a second time to solicit a deposit just the other night... i told them i didn't plan on depositing until i was WORKING again, so don't call back.

what do you think the odds are that they DO call again??

i'd say -400 or so on YES

UPDATE****
I finally received an e-mail from Karla M.

Client Services Supervisor MVPsportsbook, Racebook, Casino, Poker Room & Bingo. Please read if you want a laugh. "Thank you for contacting MVPsportsbook, Racebook, Casino, Poker Room & Bingo!

We are working everyday to make your experience with us more exciting and profitable!

First of all please accept my apologies for the delay in this answer and for any inconvenience we may have caused you.

I would like to clarify that when a client opens an account with us, we usually have the courtesy to call him and find out if the he has any questions or comments about our company or the account itself. If the client does not want to receive phone calls from us, we respect that but we need to be informed about it. There is no way for us to find out if we are causing any kind of situation to our clients if they don?t specify it.

Please understand that we are not located in USA. We are an offshore gambling company, located in Costa Rica. We are fully licensed and endorsed by the Government here to service sports-gaming enthusiasts worldwide. We understand that Internet Gaming is a global issue and every region throughout the world has different laws. If it is legal or not in your state is something that you need to figure out by contact your local authorities. If gambling is illegal in your place of live, sending you an email or calling you will cause the same reaction if the authorities find about it.

It is impossible for us to guess if a client wants to keep his gambling-hobby secret, unless he lets us know about it. If that is your situation, please be sure that we will never contact you again. Regarding the issue with the ?fake number? you are totally correct about the fact that we are not interested in having clients with fake phone numbers. We need to have a real one, especially for payout purposes.

However, we understand your actual situation and would like to do something to compensate it. Please feel free to contact me today until 11:00pm EST or tomorrow from 9:00am to 6 pm EST.

If you have further questions, comments or feedback, call toll free 1?888?771?9076 or e-mail and any of our Client Services Representatives will be happy to assist you."

Ok, maybe this is the new cutting edge approach with online sportsbooks. Sorry to say it's not. The reputable sportsbooks won't call like this unless there maybe is a problem such as the one response with WSEX. The explanation given by Karla M goes completely against MVP's privacy statement posted on their website. I called MVP yesterday to see how I could be "compensated" and also to speak with Karla. After calling the telephone # listed I explained the situation and asked for Karla. I was asked to hold and after 11 minutes the call was disconnected. I sent another e-mail to describe this new chapter in their piss poor operation. I will keep you posted. Maybe if I encounter a similar situation I will take Wilson's advice and tell my visiting father in law to mind his own business. Then maybe I'll slap him as well. Life must have been tough for Wilson growing up in the foster shelter.

Bahama,
I say the over/under on Bet Royal calling you back is + $225. When superbowl week rolls around the line will be -$955 that they will call. 7:00 AM? Wow, if they were in America can't they be fined?

Lucy, you just gave fairly good odds on the fact that betroyal and mvp are affiliated.... it was Karla that called and wrote me also, and that isn't all that common of a name.

i'll find my link where i posted bitching about that with a MAJOR hangover ;)
