You can't be serious--I sure didn't see any of us conservatives (neocons as Stevie would say) jumping out here with threads gloating--and while on the subject--if worse comes to worse--while a split senate would be ideal--I can't say I think process is fair to replace one party with another just because gov is other party.
Personally hope he fully recovers--1st from humanitarian stand point--2nd from political stand point. I love having Dems in power for next 2 years--2 year window should be plenty to give people idea of how they should vote in 08--so far Pelosi has been exceeding expectations--she's the gift that will just keep giving
Understand he's well liked by everybody. Pray he dies or deprived of his family? Don't think so. Is the governor of So. Dakota a lock to appoint a republican??
although Mr. Johnson is a socialist, he is a kind and decent man and no one is praying for anything but his health and complete recovery who know him, his family, or his acquaintances to any degree
Fortunately, guys like him are still in the democratic party with some semblence of reason and patriotism
He's still hanging on despite the dance Cheney's doing. And as mean and dirty as he is. Even you guys know if there's one guy that loves power it's Dickie. A few years back another senator had a problem. Believe his wife kept him on live support till that Governor let here finish his term. So you guys don't think this can get dirty? Lets really pray and hope none of that is need. I think the polls and election show the country has had enough of Dick and Jane.
DTB- no, I wasn't serious. I don't *actually* think anyone in here is hoping for the worst.
I had a small opportunity to deal with Johnson and his '02 opponent in the senate race when I was working in SD at the time. Johnson came off as a very genuine and likeable.
That audio should remind all of us. Give it hell and live your life to the fullest. In a second it can end. I can't believe all the young people I see everyday in the obits. Like a plague is going on. So many under the age of 40.
seriously for a sec.....i find it odd and a bit unfair that because a senator becomes ill or permanently incapaciatated that the governor(particularly a governor from the opposing party)gets to pick the replacement.....
it basically,in these partisan times, nullifies the election and the will of the people.....
you know where i stand politically...but,it just doesn`t seem kosher....
i see all kinds of potential "weekend at bernie`s" scenarios playing out....
you guys won the election...that`s how it went down.....
it may be the law,but it seems like a flawed contingency....
