Gents,

I've been betting on sports for a few years now but am getting more serious about it over the last year. Any recommended reading or books that you all found helpful?

I've been lurking on this site for years and always appreciate the insight.

1. Get on the right side

2. Reduce your risk

3. Don't be a homer

4. Reduce the plays you make.

5. Reduce the no name college football games Mon-Fri. These games are for action.

6. When you lose, don't chase late plays.

7. Do not handcuff yourself with one type of wager. Be versatile.

8. Do not play parlays and teasers. Just do not !

9. Do not wager on games where you have not seen both teams play one full game.

I don't have a how to book, but The Smart Money is a cool book that gives some insight into Billy Walters syndicate. Doesn't tell you what to do, but certainly shows you the pros are using a lot of technology, math, and other things. I can assure you Billy Walters doesnt watch every football game play and then just picks games based on a whim.

Oh, and the other thing walters says is you actually should be betting the no name, non-televised games. Those are the ones with the weakest lines.

Uga/lsu national game of the week is going to have a line that's pretty pegged and you should usually not bet that one.

In fact, in the book, it talks about betting "added games" is a quick way to have the books watch you like a shark and boot you out when you win. Only sharp bettors bet those games.

NUMBER 7 is the one I learned last, and it cost me the most... THEN #4 I also had problems with... But over the years I have "honed" my capping, and have increased PROFITS every year... I havent had a losing year since I read the book "A PERSONAL FOUL" by Tim Donaghy... That book helped me make my own system for 2nd half plays that has been VERY SUCCESSFUL (you can search on here and get an idea of how I have done since 2002 and will see I am getting better at reducing my mistakes down to very few)... If you can follow #1 RULE EVERY GAME, YOU WONT EVER HAVE A PROBLEM... But, most of us cant pick 100%, well nobody can that I have seen for more than 22 straight so far.... (Based on watching Covers streak contests for last 5 years appx)...

The key for me IS MONEY MGT, and keeping the # of plays down. And when I "tilt", fkn calm down and WALK AWAY... there is ALWAYS tomorrow... last year even, I posted on here after losing like 4 straight, saying Im done for the night and then come right back and posted 2 more plays.... and ended 0-6!!!! Why? because I WAS ON TILT....

This year, Im sitting around 62.5% Ws (67.5% without the 3 pushes) in football out of 40 plays...Now alot of people can do that for that little amount of plays... But WHAT I CAN be happy about, is THE AMT of PROFIT im sitting on betting an avg of prob. 500-1k (I bet 200-3k max, but only have played 3 max plays going 2-1), per play, and generally have had 80%+ winning days profit wise maybe higher.. THe reason is MONEY MGT, and the couple times I had a "Problem day", I humbly stopped and walked away and didnt do what I always seem to have done in the past.. FORCED PLAYS TO CHASE MY LOSSES... CHASING A LOSS KEEPS YOU HEADING IN THE SAME DIRECTION MORE TIMES THAN NAUGHT... DONT DO IT...

There are some great cappers on here.. But even the worst cappers can be a great asset... Look for streaks; winning and losing with TEAMS, AND CAPPERS ALIKE... This site WILL HELP YOU.. If you read closely and know why people r winning money consistently and why others arent even when players are hitting less than 55% ATS people still consistantly make money..

Anyone can hit 90% taking -1000 ML plays... But you r losing 10% at that rate... So win % isnt what matters... ITS WINNING PROFIT... ANd that was the hardest for me to grasp besides BLOWING UP AND cHASING which leads to TOO MANY PLAYS...

Also, dont play a game just because its on tv...

5 Dimes

5 Dimes

Just info. on 5 Dimes. I created an account, never bet with them, and started getting calls from tip services wanting me to use there services. Some were nice when I declined and some actually cussed me. 2 actually they could see that I had an account with 5 Dimes. That's why I use Sportsbook. Anyone else have this problem at 5 Dimes?
