Jinx.... that's what i'm trying to find out from you...LOL I'm hoping to learn if different leagues are able to use different birthdates (which would SUCK to say the least.) the change took place last season in Iowa, and that 2 day miss is painful :( (if they used "start of season" next year, my kid would likely be the biggest little leaguer in history....LOL .... unfortunately the weight goes along with the heighth. he turned 12 a couple months ago, and is 5'8" and about 180)... unless they change the birthdate again his LL days are over, but at least he was recruited for a highschool prep team of 13-14 year olds, so he'll be able to continue playing thru the fall.

don't wish your new 'lil one to grow up too soon, the years will start to pass by much faster than you want them to.

if you find out that the age is different in your area, please let me know...we'll move ;)

Just 12yrs old and 5'8" and #180 sounds like the football coach will be looking at him!!

Morris, there has been a coach trying to talk him into football for 3 years now, but the doesn't want a thing to do with it :( :( :( (he doesn't like the idea of having to put an any gear other than a cup). Since football is my favorite sport i'm hoping once school coaches start getting to him (this year 7th grade) he'll consider trying it. know he'd like it if he learned anything about the game, but he's one of those kids who wants to excel at anything he tries and he knows NOTHING about the basics of football. if he starts feeling that it will get him better grades in PE if he does what the coaches want, he'd play in a heartbeat!

My son didn't want anything to do with it after the first practice when it was Pee-Wee ball. I said try it a few more times and he did. He was the starting center for his high school team. I will tell you that it is a lot of hard practice sometimes 2 a day and if doesn't have a bit of fun thay will lose interest. Biggest thing is don't push. I have a nephew that is 6'4" and didn't want anything to do with football and he is just fine and got accepted at NC State.
