Of all of todays opportunities, this is the one I wrestled with the most.

Detroit Red Wings -1? -130

I was initially intrigued by the contest because by all that I measure a team by, Detroit should easily ruin the Ducks tonight in the Motor City, but as of late, there's something about Anaheim that I just can't get a grip on well enough to put into words.

There's something going on with ANA lately that is prompting me to reconsider over and over again whether 1 1/2 goals might be giving Detroits offense too much credit.

Even though I know in my head that ANA is playing their third game in four nights on the road and lost by 2 to the Dreaded Blue Jackets on New Years Eve, I'm not comfortable believing that these Ducks who since December 23rd have beaten PHO, SJO, Tied LAK and only losing by 1 to CHI will have any trouble giving DET a game if they choose to show up.

The following was taken from an interview conducted with the Chicago BlackHawks coach Brian Sutter following their game the other night in CHI...

...Anaheim's season-high, four-game unbeaten streak was ended by the Blackhawks, but Chicago coach Brian Sutter was impressed with the Ducks' effort.

"That was as hard a game as we've played in awhile, and we've played some tough ones," Sutter said. "They have been playing that way. Even if they had played the Detroit Red Wings, it probably would have been a one-goal game."

So I'll look like a coward wearing my feathers and beak as I play the Redwings ML,
but at least I'll make something for this frustration.

Anaheim lost 8 times in December, all by one goal--except last game in Columbus. Dec was better month than others.

Detroit 8-2 vs Ana last 10, half of those wins by one goal.

LA Times report coach Murray sez Shields in goal for Anaheim. He had five starts in Dec, four on the road. His save pct for Dec was .915. All those starts went under. Last six meetings went under. Over 3-1 in Detoit last four games.

Anaheim is 0-7-1 at Joe Louis Arena. Detroit needs wins as Chicago is cutting their Division point lead.

Gregory, how about Detroit -.5 -270? Then parlay with Spurs -500 or Clemson -600 to cut the juice? I've been thinking that. Any feedback?

If I could get DET at a half a goal, I'd be all over it. Your books must be kinder to you than mine are to me.

The parlay is an excellent idea, although I haven't looked at the NBA today (the only other sport I pay attention to,)to see what is offered.

I'm going to go snoop that and see what more I can learn.

Back soon.

I'd suggest getting an account at Olympic or betmega to get these -.5 lines. Olympic(www.thegreek.com) also offered the moneylines on Sac and Clemson I didn't see at many books today. Not to mention plenty of hockey proposition bets.

And canbet offers 1.5 lines in every NHL game.
