Here a some win totals that I'm leaning towards. I would love some thoughts... if anyone's got any.
Carolina - OVER 7.5 wins (-135)
The Panthers had a rough year last year, especially on defense. I look for John Fox to get this team to bounce back. His system is good enough to eke out wins even when his best players are injured. Their qb situation was miserable as well, with Weinke starting a few games, etc. Delhomme is coming back, and has looked good so far. They're a little thin at RB with DeAngelo Williams having to carry a heavier load, but their main weapon, Mr. Steven Smith should continue his usual dominance. Looking at their schedule, they have 2 games against Atlanta, and one against Oakland. Assuming they get those 3, then it's just a question of 5 out of the other 13 games, which is totally doable in the middle of the road NFC South.
Jets - OVER 7 wins (-145) BIG PLAY
Gang green went out and made a bunch of good signings on both the O (faneca, woody) + D(jenkins) lines. Of course they still have major issues at qb, but the running game should be a lot better because of the improvements up front. They are in a relatively tough division, but I think Mangini rebounds and squeaks at least 8 wins out of this team.
Lions - OVER 6.5 wins (-145)
I just don't see this young team winning FEWER games than it did last season. Calvin Johnson and Roy W will be that much better, so that will help to cover up how bad Kitna is. They had a tough end of the season last year, losing 7 of 8, but those were against top tier teams. I think the Packers come back to earth, evening out the division a bit.
Patriots UNDER 12.5 (+110)
I like this one just from a karma perspective. I think spygate comes back to bite them a little. Of course they're going to be good, but they didn't cover a game for the last ELEVEN games. Teams were figuring out how to slow them down. I think that every team they play is going to use the Giants blueprint to try and swarm Brady. Of course not everyone has the personnel that the G-Men had, but I still think this amounts to at least 4 losses, if not 5.
Chargers OVER 10.5 (-155)
How do you not win 11 games with that team in that division? I think they're PISSED about getting so close against the Pats (again).
That's it for now... any suggestions, opinions, anything, let me know.
Thanks
