Here a some win totals that I'm leaning towards. I would love some thoughts... if anyone's got any.

Carolina - OVER 7.5 wins (-135)
The Panthers had a rough year last year, especially on defense. I look for John Fox to get this team to bounce back. His system is good enough to eke out wins even when his best players are injured. Their qb situation was miserable as well, with Weinke starting a few games, etc. Delhomme is coming back, and has looked good so far. They're a little thin at RB with DeAngelo Williams having to carry a heavier load, but their main weapon, Mr. Steven Smith should continue his usual dominance. Looking at their schedule, they have 2 games against Atlanta, and one against Oakland. Assuming they get those 3, then it's just a question of 5 out of the other 13 games, which is totally doable in the middle of the road NFC South.

Jets - OVER 7 wins (-145) BIG PLAY
Gang green went out and made a bunch of good signings on both the O (faneca, woody) + D(jenkins) lines. Of course they still have major issues at qb, but the running game should be a lot better because of the improvements up front. They are in a relatively tough division, but I think Mangini rebounds and squeaks at least 8 wins out of this team.

Lions - OVER 6.5 wins (-145)
I just don't see this young team winning FEWER games than it did last season. Calvin Johnson and Roy W will be that much better, so that will help to cover up how bad Kitna is. They had a tough end of the season last year, losing 7 of 8, but those were against top tier teams. I think the Packers come back to earth, evening out the division a bit.

Patriots UNDER 12.5 (+110)
I like this one just from a karma perspective. I think spygate comes back to bite them a little. Of course they're going to be good, but they didn't cover a game for the last ELEVEN games. Teams were figuring out how to slow them down. I think that every team they play is going to use the Giants blueprint to try and swarm Brady. Of course not everyone has the personnel that the G-Men had, but I still think this amounts to at least 4 losses, if not 5.

Chargers OVER 10.5 (-155)
How do you not win 11 games with that team in that division? I think they're PISSED about getting so close against the Pats (again).

That's it for now... any suggestions, opinions, anything, let me know.

Thanks

Peteyboy,

I like your picks with the possible exception of New England. Do you offer your plays as a paid service? Very impressive and astute analysis. Thanks! :mj07:

Love the Pats pick. 12 wins is an under. Teams were figuring the Pats out the last several weeks of the season - lots of close games to mediocre teams. Shouldn't be an easy road for them this season.

i got burnt last year with the panthers on the wins because their qb got hurt...i do think it's a pretty good bet again....

think the jets are a good bet also...think they will win both games against miami & split their 2 games against buffalo...they play cin., zona, kc& rams at home & think at worst they will win 3 of 4 but i think they have a good chance of winning all 4...that's either 6 or 7 wins....they play at tenn, at oakland, & at s.f.....think they have a pretty good shot of winning 2 of 3...it'll be close but think they will do it...

with detroit i am leary of betting a team that is learning a new offense...it usually takes a few games to get acclimated...& looking at their schedule i am not crazy about this play....

ne has the easiest schedule this year in the league but they have the famous superbowl loser hang over.....but looking over their schedule i find it hard to see them losing 5 games....

sd imo has the best team in the league & looking over their schedule i like this play.....

good luck..

So. Cal
beware of the chargers, even though they are in the worst division in the nfl they play 4 games in the eastern time zone and play a game in london.....lots of travel and lots of key offensive guys coming off injuries (gates-ltd-rivers) and a few key depth losses (turner + 1 o-lineman)

I think you can get your money back on this bet if they DONT win the 7 games for you, Kitna is gauranteeing 10 wins again isnt he:142smilie :mj07: :142smilie
BOL they seem solid right now well all except the Lions, I wouldnt bet monopoly money on them to do anything, but you list good reasonings for all your plays......barring injury and team turmoil. I LOVE THE PATS bet, this team I think will work TO hard to prove everyone wrong but from what Ive seen, last few weeks of the season and a very quiet off season this is quite possible as the teams that DID get embarrassed just this past year along with every orginazation that feels as though they got shafted by spygate in some form or fashion will come out playing that game as a super bowl appearance, target will be bright red this year!!!
