I'm looking to move where I can retire and enjoy my latter years in life, if anyone has suggestions somewhere down south where mother nature isn't going to wreak havoc, please drop me a line in a message, or ask Jack for my email address. I'm a restaurant operations expert by trade or multi-unit operator/district manager or whatever title comes with developing restaurants and holding managers accountable and ensuring customers are priority as well as team members while also producing positive sales and bottom line profits. I'm currently in Raleigh NC and came back to be closer to my teenagers after my last divorce in 2017 when I moved back to the midwest, only to see things in a different light and a wake up call.

I have looked on sites that show COL, cost of living from where you are now and where you'd like to move but I find those numbers to be out of line with all the changes we've had in the environment we're in now with C-19 fokken up our lives somewhere along the line since late 2019, southern/southwest Missouri I loved for the time I was there, 1 whole year, I'm a numbers guy, I enjoy developing people into management and turning around underperforming quick service, mostly pizza restaurants, and I'm willing to move for an opportunity to prove my worth and be part of a team where I can embrace the company's vision and goals and feel appreciated for the work I produce.

Drop me a line and I appreciate your insight(s).

All the best and Happy Holiday's to you!

Sincerely, WB!!

Bill

Texas is being crushed with relocations, mainly from California. I have been in Fort Worth since my dad got stationed at Carswell in '77. I am really happy here. Everything is offered with the Cowboys in Arlington and the Mav's and Stars in Dallas. Except for this past year weather is good. It will be 80 on Christmas day but it is 33 right now. After living in North Dakota for 7 years, the lows here never bother me.

Austin is the Hottest thing right now. Stay away from Houston, too much traffic. The coast is always fun but subject to major storms.

I would say this is a good place to retire. Play golf year around. Casinos are close but not too close. Lone Star Park for racing. Bass Hall for fancy crap. Dickies Arena for cows and concerts. Tons of craft beer.

Eggcellent info Steve, I appreciate you!! I've looked into Texas, lowest cost living was of course west of DFW and NW of San Ant, towards Big Spring, Odessa and Midland, I'd like to be closer to a major metro area, so Austin or DFW and perhaps San Ant might be interesting to say the least.

I'll definitely look into those areas!!

All the best!

when looking myself ..I pick out areas that look favorable and also look at selection of others.
many opinions are biased?however make 2 search links is fool proof.
set up one link to demographics of zip that are interest groups for you?along with link to bureau of statistical explaining demographics relelavence.
you might do the Bureau 1st as I can see possibility in near future they will be discontinued as being racist.
When buying condo DestinFla zip 32541 fit my preference.
little crime..no smash and grabs..full strength police force..no destruction of property.no riots..etc.

in a nutshell..look for area of majority with good character who respect others and their property..list is smaller than decade ago..but still plenty left.

good luck and be safe brother

You dont want to live in Big Spring the houses there are old and falling apart not many nice houses there. Midland/Odessa is alright its just a big oilfield town houses are nice but they are right on top of each other. Lots of construction going on in that area with new hotels and new houses going up.

Dog are you living in Destin permanently? We go there 2-3 times a year but not in the summer. Lately its even been crowded during fall and spring and ive noticed just a trashier crowd as of late during fall/spring. Would love to move there but wife would rather just visit there

Thinking of it too, my middle son, he's 25 loved it when he saw LV Raiders get beat a few weeks ago at home there at the new stadium.

Thanks Dr Feelgood!! :0074

Here's what I can tell you. I'm coming up on 10 years here. Weather is spectacular from mid March til early June. Then turns very hot thru August. As long as it is 105 and lower I can golf 18 holes and not even break a sweat. We were at 70 degrees until the first week of Dec and now it has been 'cold' for the past 3 weeks (about mid 50's to 60's during the day and low 40's at night). It does get cold and I've actually built a snowman a couple years ago so we do get snow but rarely. Weather is pretty awesome in my opinion.

Everyone thinks Las Vegas is just the Strip. That is far from the truth. I have lived in 2 great neighborhoods, one in the Northwest section of town (Lone Mountain area) and it was pretty close to anything you needed and about 35 minutes to the airport and 20 to the Strip for when family and friends come. My new place is more centrally located and only 10 minutes from the strip and about 20 minutes to the airport. It actually has a small town feel to it as long as you aren't in the center of it all (Strip and downtown areas).

Food options are endless. We have a 9% tax but property taxes are miniscule. I pay half the taxes I did in New Hampshire and my house out here is worth almost 4 times as much as that one.

You can fly to Cali in 50 minutes, the airport is easy to navigate and fast check ins as well. I flew to Reno last week in 50 minutes as well. You can drive to Mt Charleston in an hour and see snow if that suits you (it literally lasts up there until mid May). If you want to drive to Cali it is about 4-6 hours depending on where you want to go.

Crime happens here, but I have never witnessed any or even been close to any so far and I work in the most undesirable place in the state (North Las Vegas).

Healthcare is pretty good, haven't had any issues there (actually went to the ER yesterday for what I thought was a heart attack). My Dad comes and stays with us from Upstate NY from Dec to April and we haven't experienced any issues with him as well in the healthcare industry. He actually came and rehabbed here a couple years ago cuz it was better than where he was in NY.

We are becoming the sports mecca of the USA with Pro hockey, football, and the A's will be here in a couple years I think.

Like I said, 2nd best decision I ever made, good luck on whatever you decide Wild Bill!!!
