Herron 39/1 Betfair. Herron has a good record on this course. He's had some indifferent performances in recent weeks but hopefully he'll bounce back in Reno.

Tway 40/1 Ladbrokes. Another player with good current and course form.

May 80/1 Willhill. Taking a chance with the local May who has shown glimpses of form this summer.

Outright plays (1 unit):

Chris Riley to win 14/1 e.w. @ UKBetting
Nothing too inspired this week; just the top-3 in my ratings available at odds above my own lines. Riley is a justifiable favourite for this event. In his last five events, he as secured three top-3 finishes, finished 14th in the International, which is also held at altitude, and finished 22nd in the British Open. His course form is solid, he was born locally and has finished top-15 in his last two home-state events. No need to add any more.

Charles Howell to win 16/1 e.w. @ Victor Chandler
After a difficult spring, Howell has put together an extended run of decent finishes. No top-10s since February, but on the fringes of contention more often than not and could have been more, but for a 3rd round 80 last week when only three shots off the lead after 36 holes. Finished 4th last year, having been the halfway leader, and looks a great player against this field.

Steve Flesch to win 25/1 e.w. @ Victor Chandler
Flesch completes a triumvirate of players who have yet to win on Tour, but for whom it is only a matter of time. Solid performances in the last two weeks - 10th and 17th - allied with excellent course - top-10 in the last two years and top-15 in the last four events in Nevada - should point to yet another high finish from Flesch. Less likely to win than the other two, but someone has to this week!

1 ew Henninger 66/1 Tote
1 ew Byrum 80/1 Tote..price disappearing as we speak..along with 66/1 at other bookies...not totally sure why..just thought he looked worthy of getting in mixup..not won since 1989 though..
1 ew Perez..100/1 Chandler..two seconds so far..one better this time...
Any ideas if altitude makes this similar to International a few weeks ago? Scoring makes it hard to compare...need to be able to work out revised distances taking thinner air into account...

Mid-point update:

Haas/Andrade WON by 1
Haas/Henninger WON by 4
O'Meara/Brooks Trails by 4
Tway/Day Leads by 3
Peoples/Tataurangi WON by 8

Riley 9th
Howell 15th
Flesch 1st

Great position at the cut. This could be the best event on an otherwise very disappointing PGA Tour season. Howell had been the 1st round leader, but should come back and press for three finishes in the top-5. Having picked the pre-weekend leader in three of this week's five events, it will certainly be a long weekend!

Final update:

Matchups: 5-0; +5.00 units

O'Meara/Brooks WON by 3
Tway/Day WON by 4

Outrights: 2-1; +9.25 units

Riley 1st
Howell 3rd
Flesch 6th

Unbelievable! This has been an unbelievably bad PGA Tour season and along comes a second-fiddle event and I almost sweep the deck! Riley won via a one-hole playoff against Skip Kendall and, but for consecutive bogeys down the home stretch from Flesch, it would have been a sweep in the outrights to match the sweep in the matchups. Who knows what will happen in next week's event! Still nice to have three 1st place winners out of this week's five events :D

PGA Tour ytd
Matchups: 70-74; -23.93 units
Outrights: 15-68; -15.18 units

All Tours ytd
Matchups: 146-139; -17.25 units
Outrights: 60-213; +170.84 units

I know how you feel bettingmad. I had a couple of those this week as well. Tway, Furyk and Bjornstad just missed out and I had a little on Gay at 60/1 with Olympic who only offer 4 places. Allenby and Stan's tip Hatalsky made it a good week but it could have been so much better.
