You got to be kidding me.I just watched on tv where there was some rally in DC for slavery reparations this weekend. The attendance was a whopping 100 people but still we had American congressman John Conyers of Michigan and Nation Of Islam psycho the "honorable" Rev. Louis Farrakan speaking about how America owes backpay for slavery.Give me a break guys. Our country is at war with the Middle East.Arab terroists have invaded America and are living here today waiting to kill Americans no matter what their skin color might be.And we are trying to rally America to pay money for slavery.By the way..if anybody else watched this BS...there was all African flags waving and not 1 American flag to be seen.At this time we need to unite and protect our country..not divide it with such STUPID issues. Why should I pay you for something that I didnt do to you!!!Or why should the 3000 white farmers in Africa lose there house, land, and jobs to black people just because they are white?Oh I forgot the new Zimbawie president said that land belonged to blacks long ago so if your white ..you must give it to them or go to jail for 20yrs.Your choice!!!!

Here in Helsinki some immigrant muslim wanted "traffic pigs"
( concrete pigs that are put to walkways etc. ) to be
removed because pigs insulted their religion......

now we have turtles......

i think they should get us to our way of living or get f?k out of the country, we didn?t ask you to come over here.

racism is picking up its head here in Europe, and i must say
i'm not that open minded anymore to immigrant/refugees.

i have nothing against people with different skin color, but
people with wrong attitude.

I watched the piece on 60 Minutes on the President of Zimbabwe and I must say, the guy is quite a psycho. Instills himself as the president of the country (which the US officially will not recognize) then virtually turns over all control to his roving band of mobs. They have succesfully run hundreds of white farmers off their land and reclaimed it for the government.

In terms of repirations, what hogwash. Farakhan claimed tens of thousands were here last weekend, official DC police estimates were 3,000 or less.

Well, Personally, I hope they win, I think they are going to sue major corporations that had there "ROOTS" back in slavery days, now if this happens, we the white minority would be able to file a class action suit against MLB, NFL, NBA and any african american corporation for the mega bucks that we pay to see them. But really, I have seen numerous african americans saying how rediculous this is, one prominent spokesman was saying how it was "black slave traders, that sold them into slavery" I don't know but I just see this as being more devisive at a time that we don't need this.

There are so many legal problems with this I dont know where to begin.

Simply, how are you going to sue companies that dont exist anymore? How are you going to name a 2002 C.E.O. in a suit, based on the fact that 125 years ago, 120 years before his company even existed, a permuation of a company that only has tertiary relations with its current form that this CEO runs - had your great great great grandfather as a slave? It just isnt going to happen. How would you sue Standard Oil today? Or American Tobacco? I challenge you to find a legal leg to stand on.

I dont get it. Do the folks behind this suit expect companies to just cave? I also saw two or three prominent local black leaders on local DC tv this weekend talking about how absurd the notion of reparations was. My guess is this will go absolutely nowhere.

In the most twisted use of logic I have EVER witnessed, pro-reparations advocates are proposing to sue the US GOVERNMENT, which is the same government that FREED the slaves in a war fought 1861-65 and cost 400,000 lives.

Sue the Confederacy, which protected the institutions of slavery? Yes, indeed.

But on what logical grounds can these racial hustlers sue the side that WON the war and thus enabled slaves to go free?

What next -- a lawsuit against the American, British, and Russian forces who liberated concentration camps?

Baffling!

If our legal system validates any lawsuit using taxpayer money concerning something that happened hundreds of years ago when many of our taxpaying families had not stepped foot in the United States, we are in big trouble. Maybe they should start first in Africa. The African leaders were totally involved with the slave trade, selling their own people for profit. You don't suppose a bunch of white (actually European) men on boats just sailed into Africa and started rounding up people, do you? The weapon of choice would have likely been a musket. How would that stand up to thousands of unwilling slaves-to-be with spears, knives, etc.? Slaves also were taken to Europe and South America before ever setting foot in the United States. Maybe the pro-reparations people can sue the "wealthy" South Amrican countries that imported slaves long before slaves set foot in the U.S. Of course, the economy isn't too good over there right now. And as mentioned, in Zimbabwe right now, Mugabe is using his official thugs to take 95% of the farm land owned by whites for redistribution. No reparations there. More likely, Jackson and presidential candidate Sharpton will continue to extort money from major corporations. While this would not be taxpayer money, one thing is for sure - it wold come out of everyone's pocket in the long run. Where would the money come from for such payments - that's a simple answer. Prices are raised and that hits us all in the pocketbook. Nothing is free.

I was reading about what they are suing over and from what I gather out of it...

The "North" promised all the newly freed slaves "40 acres and a donkey" to begin their new life. And it never happened. So now the 'brilliant' legal minds of those that are always suffering from something feel that they can go back and get this given to everyone in the form of cash and compound interest.

But, who gets this money if they win? are they going to line up everyone with african bloodlines in them and just shell out afew bucks based on how far back you can trace your heritage?

Unfortunately, what may actually happen is reparations in the form of somre sort of tax credits. Bottom line - money still comes from taxpayers. As others have mentioned, this is being pushed by a small percentage of Black population. Many leaders of the community have spoken against it.
