Re-cap from the Mon. Richmond Times Dispatch
Dayton beat UNC Wilmington 68-59 in NIT first round. Richmond played UNCW two times this year. [split the games, I think], and beat West VA last Friday handily, as a nine point FAV.
Dayton split games with UMASS and beat George Washington. Richmond beat both of those teams. Dayton lost at home to Old Dominion. The Spiders swept two games from ODU. Dayton Flyers have lost five times at home this year.
Dayton coached by former ODU coach Oliver Purnell. Started the season strong with wins over UCONN and Maryland at the Maui Invitational. Have won four of their last five, including the NIT victory.
Richmond has now won 10 of 11. Well rested - had 17 days off between last season game and NIT win by 25 over West VA. Left Sat for Dayton, and have been preparing there.
Personal note:
Dayton - hard to figure, given quality wins etc. Spiders on a mission - felt snubbed by NCAA.
Good luck.
