real strong play today on Rider -14.5 over St peter.St petes is ranked last in many catorories of the MAC.Scoring and rebounding their in the middle of the pack.But in defense and giving up pts there hurting.Also they avg.20 turnovers a game which transulates into 18 pts a game.On top of that they are last in the MAC in FT shooting and the nation.[almost]They shoot 60%.They are 2-14 and 1-5 in conf.Ats is 2-2-2 on the road.From beyond the arc they are 53-208.Thats 25%.This team has some shooting problems.These stats are both on the road,at home,and in the Jersey City Rec league.St.Anthonys HS, coached by Hurley down the street has 5 better shooters.John is their top player and he can score avg 14 pts.McQueen their center is built like an offensive linemen 6'6 about 320.St peters has a contest on campus guessing McQueens weight.Most people have him at 340 but I watched him the other nite and their off by a least 20 pds.He has to come out every 3 minuts but believe it or not he can pass,rebound,and takes up the entire key.
Rider has a stud in Poter.He will win the MAC POYr.Leads in scoring 21 pts,2nd in rebounding,and tops in many off. stats in MAC.He is unstopable at times and today will be a mismatch because nobody will be able to stop him.Johnson the frosh gd will win Rookie POyr in MAC.He won the frosh rookie again this week for the 3rd time.he can dribble and shoot and avg's 13 pts.Riders plays 3 gds,Porter at foward and 6'10 Reed who just plays defense and rebounds.
Rider is 6-3 in the MAC and is 8-4 ats and 3-1 at home ats.
Today is Hall of Fame day at Rider but I don't think they need that to get up for St pete.
Last 2 times Pete came to rider they lost by 28 and 25.And the last 2 times Rider went to Jersey City they won by 12 and 15.
Rider is the surprise team in the MAC.Everyone knows they are dangerous.Cannot see Peter hanging with them today.In the past 2 yrs Peter at Rider gave up 92 and 87 pts.See almost the same thing today.Rider wins big.I call these games "luv"games.
I'll take West Vir -2 over Rutgers.Hargett might be back.Rutgers hasen't won since it last beat WV at home.WV has lost 8 in a row and 9-10.RU had 26 TO's vs prov. the other day.RU on the road is terrible.WV defense has been holding its opponets to 40% shooting in last 6 games.They should be 6-0 then but they have lost all 6.Because their offense is terrible.Moss is tough but they can't shoot.They shoot 42% and are 33-133 from beyond the arc in their last 6 games.Damn.I'd love to see St Peter and them playing HORSE from beyond the arc.It could be a 3 hr game.
Rutgers needs a road win bad.But WV has never lost 9 in a row since 1936.Thats the yr my father graduated from Manhattan College.
Really should pass on this game but I'm going with the pre-WW-2 trend here.Also Catlett has to have his kids fired up after losing to rival Marshall the other nite and watching the Marshall fans taunt his home crowd.

I looked at the brunch menu and oatmeal w/brown sugar this morning is $9.00.I could buy about 6 boxes of Quaker Oats for that.But like my wife told me last nite..."stop complaing about the prices...you probaly spend more on those basketball games you play...". Of course my answer was"hon no way". And freak'in Canisuis didn't cover.....I've got the post "tavern on the green" blues from yest's picks.Will rebound today hopefully.GL
