(plenty of boxing fans around here)
You win, Kicker... er, that is the OVER 1001 words for this thread (I think it may be a long one).:violin: Hope you got your reading glasses on, Kick
I like to share the picks but I think sharing ideas is more important. We are here to help each other beat this game I think/hope? Here's how I play the first round for the major events (sometimes NOT for the French Open though). If you've been to a Chinese resturant - you'll have no problem firguring this thing out (see the bottom of this post for "how to use the "menu").
The idea at this point of the tourney is to primarily go with favorites (NOT the ones for cwazy people though like... say, Rafa @ -3750 or say Fed's bridge jumper special odds) AND avoid the POtential land mines out there ! We all know that Poo Poo can happen in the first round and I did put plenty of studying mainly directed toward avoiding that stinky stuff.
Column A (these are the odds I already got from a couple of days ago)
ATP Tennis 109 Gilles Simon -340* vs Donald Young
ATP Tennis 114 Philipp Kohlschreiber -480* vs Tobias Kamke
ATP Tennis 133 David Ferrer -345* vs Alexandr Dolgopolov
ATP Tennis 221 Victor Hanescu -535* vs Carlos Berlocq
ATP Tennis 266 Robby Ginepri -320* vs Eduardo Schwank
ATP Tennis 297 Taylor Dent -130* vs Alejandro Falla
ATP Tennis 178 Stanislas Wawrinka -370* vs Mikhail Kukushkin
ATP Tennis 306 Fernando Gonzalez -157
ATP Tennis 117 Feliciano Lopez -210 :mj01:
Hewitt/Mathieu - no line yet, OVER whatever the line is if they do post a line for it.:0074
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
566 Alberta Brianti -138 (based on trying to figure out which one is "worser" ) :mj01:
606 Alisa Kleybanova -278
618 Sybille Bammer -205
457 Dominika Cibulkova -322
Column B (be careful, some of these entrees may be kinda bitter):
ATP Tennis 254 Olivier Rochus +168
ATP Tennis 313 Carsten Ball -115
ATP Tennis 126 Peter Luczak +236
ATP Tennis 281 Kristof Vliegen +215: Yeah, I'm a believer NOW when Blake is on the court. IMO Vliegen is much better than his ranking would suggest but IF Blake finds his game which is doubtful - this one's a lossah.
Just pick 3 or 2 from Col. A and add one from Column B to make a 4 or 3 teamer. I think jumping on a single, straight play for the first round is not the thing to do for the opening round. Putting down a little with a chance of cashing not-so-little is they way I go for the first round. It's worked for me before. I got 4 parlays out of the above (no sense posting them cause it doesn't look like anybody's that interested except maybe Kicker or Ghost. And it's a lot of typing. Do let me know if you are though and I'll keep on truckin here.
Even if nobody's that interested now, I'll try to post some plays in the late rounds (less typing).
Oh, almost forgots.... Desert? Dimes let's ya add a futures play to a parlay. These odds ARE current, i just checked them. I like HOT Cinnamin and/or Strawberry....
Nadal +350 : When I DID take a shot with a futures play during the past few years - I don't know I always think twice before taking a shot with this guy.... and then go for it after his odds have gotten worse by the 3rd round.... then cash the ticket when the dang tourney is done as usual.). While we were posting and watching sports, this guy was nailing the girl friend and MOSTLY sharpening the daggers that he'll be bringing with him into this Open. Odds are gonna get much worse on Rafa. IF YA LIKEM, Gitem now.
Murray +345: : Just can't ignore Andy the way he's playing these days.
Enjoy the chow.
Ghost.. . how bout that Michelin Man... as soon as his ass hit the canvas the "fight" was over. Although he did look in much better shape (while he was standing that is) than he did when he made his BOXING return awhile back.
Good luck whatever you play, tennis fans.
