(plenty of boxing fans around here)

You win, Kicker... er, that is the OVER 1001 words for this thread (I think it may be a long one).:violin: Hope you got your reading glasses on, Kick :D

I like to share the picks but I think sharing ideas is more important. We are here to help each other beat this game I think/hope? Here's how I play the first round for the major events (sometimes NOT for the French Open though). If you've been to a Chinese resturant - you'll have no problem firguring this thing out (see the bottom of this post for "how to use the "menu").
The idea at this point of the tourney is to primarily go with favorites (NOT the ones for cwazy people though like... say, Rafa @ -3750 or say Fed's bridge jumper special odds) AND avoid the POtential land mines out there ! We all know that Poo Poo can happen in the first round and I did put plenty of studying mainly directed toward avoiding that stinky stuff.

Column A (these are the odds I already got from a couple of days ago)
ATP Tennis 109 Gilles Simon -340* vs Donald Young
ATP Tennis 114 Philipp Kohlschreiber -480* vs Tobias Kamke
ATP Tennis 133 David Ferrer -345* vs Alexandr Dolgopolov
ATP Tennis 221 Victor Hanescu -535* vs Carlos Berlocq
ATP Tennis 266 Robby Ginepri -320* vs Eduardo Schwank
ATP Tennis 297 Taylor Dent -130* vs Alejandro Falla
ATP Tennis 178 Stanislas Wawrinka -370* vs Mikhail Kukushkin
ATP Tennis 306 Fernando Gonzalez -157
ATP Tennis 117 Feliciano Lopez -210 :mj01:

Hewitt/Mathieu - no line yet, OVER whatever the line is if they do post a line for it.:0074

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

566 Alberta Brianti -138 (based on trying to figure out which one is "worser" ) :mj01:
606 Alisa Kleybanova -278
618 Sybille Bammer -205
457 Dominika Cibulkova -322

Column B (be careful, some of these entrees may be kinda bitter):

ATP Tennis 254 Olivier Rochus +168
ATP Tennis 313 Carsten Ball -115
ATP Tennis 126 Peter Luczak +236
ATP Tennis 281 Kristof Vliegen +215: Yeah, I'm a believer NOW when Blake is on the court. IMO Vliegen is much better than his ranking would suggest but IF Blake finds his game which is doubtful - this one's a lossah.

Just pick 3 or 2 from Col. A and add one from Column B to make a 4 or 3 teamer. I think jumping on a single, straight play for the first round is not the thing to do for the opening round. Putting down a little with a chance of cashing not-so-little is they way I go for the first round. It's worked for me before. I got 4 parlays out of the above (no sense posting them cause it doesn't look like anybody's that interested except maybe Kicker or Ghost. And it's a lot of typing. Do let me know if you are though and I'll keep on truckin here.
Keep_On_Truckin-logo-CE805929F6-seeklogo.com.gif

Even if nobody's that interested now, I'll try to post some plays in the late rounds (less typing).

Oh, almost forgots.... Desert? Dimes let's ya add a futures play to a parlay. These odds ARE current, i just checked them. I like HOT Cinnamin and/or Strawberry....

Nadal +350 : When I DID take a shot with a futures play during the past few years - I don't know I always think twice before taking a shot with this guy.... and then go for it after his odds have gotten worse by the 3rd round.... then cash the ticket when the dang tourney is done as usual.). While we were posting and watching sports, this guy was nailing the girl friend and MOSTLY sharpening the daggers that he'll be bringing with him into this Open. Odds are gonna get much worse on Rafa. IF YA LIKEM, Gitem now.

Murray +345: : Just can't ignore Andy the way he's playing these days.

Enjoy the chow.

Ghost.. . how bout that Michelin Man... as soon as his ass hit the canvas the "fight" was over. Although he did look in much better shape (while he was standing that is) than he did when he made his BOXING return awhile back.

Good luck whatever you play, tennis fans.

Thanks for stopping in, Kicker

Thanks for stopping in, Kicker

Not sure "Worser" is a word:shrug:

You musta missed plenty of them - there's plenty mo of them :)

Thanks for stopping in though cause it looks like your "getting my drift", Kick. GOOD THING you got the fight scene covered real good cause most of the tennis fans don't use them keyboards. And that there Ghost fella REALLY has a following and he deserves it too.

Can't believe I got so many VIEWS in my "Pilot Pen" thread.. but I gotta wonder, "What the hell were they looking for?". Heck, even if thems told me that I get carried away with the ole typewriter, like you, I"d welcome the reply. :mj07:

Maybe thems looking for the "entertainment" but that's not what I'm looking for. It's gonna cost them blisters on their fingertips like I gots. LMAO

Lets get to the tennis .... . .

Like your ideas about them womens... looking for a dark (like JET BLACK) horse. I tried doing it and EVERY stinkin one I "test" comes up... "NO F%$#ing WAY". Just can't find one. Worser (opps) yet, Clisters is the only legit player I can find on the ladies side... and you know what I'm afraid what she might do. For me... If Clisters is in a the final with a gal that is a luke warm fav. to win it all .. GIMME Clisters. And IF she's in the final againt one of them BLACK horses (that is - everybody thought they had no shot earlier in this tourney) ... gimme the longshot.

If somebody new doesn't stop in here think I'll just visit your thread every so often and maybe I can make a NICE comment. :00hour

I'll probably post something in a new thread after this tourney gets rid of most of the "pretenders" even if the tennis fans keyboards don't work. I DO LUV reading my own STUFF. :0002 (make believe thats a computer with MadJack's on the screen and not a TV).

There should be something good on YouTube for me to include or maybe some appropriate background music for the viewers listening pleasure while they read my STUFF. I did put a REALLY good one in my old forum when I picked Mahut (UGH) to beat Isner. I played "Warewolfs of London" from a YouTube embedded file in one of my post's during the overnight match suspension period. I played that one cause the "Wha Whooo" part sounded like "Mah Hooot" (the way you pronounce Ma Hut). If ya want my to pull it over to here, let me know.... music was great.

In my farewell to that forum, I played "Happy Trails to You" in the BACKGROUND... I'll spare ya that one.. man, Roy Rogers and Dale put folks to sleep and I'm sure the other forum members couldn't wait to git rid of me after that performance.

Good luck the rest of the Open with the

Great

Great

Thanks, Kick. I think you can just copy it cause it's already here in Mad Jack's place. Just right click, pick "copy", stick in your place (right click and pick "paste"). Use it in your thread sometime. You probably already know that stuff though.

Roddick looked pretty good today. My name for him is "Nervous Nellie" .... see the sweat pouring off his cap every match and the look on his face and his actions between every stinkin point when he starts to lose confidence out there when applicable. Po thang, he's a mess, Kick.

I'm gonna log off now.

Seeya around.

Ugh :(

Ugh :(

I just noticed that the Leyton match started... DANG, DANG, DANG.... I forgot all about cause there was on Over/Under line early this morning for it yet.

SHEEET... I just rushed to the dang puter to see if I could get a single play on the OVER whatever the lline is and I MISSED IT.

Really liked that play. Anyway, think its up to 2-1 in the first set now.

FLUCK. it.

(looks like the "A" entrees are pretty tasty :)
Not gonna score them here though cause it's no big deal with doing that with a list of kinda heavy favorites. I see Bell rung the bell in the "B" menu so far too. Let me see.. .. checking, checking, checking...
Hmm - Rochus struck out. :(

I'm THINKING about DaBull +10 games vs. the Fed. Man. Tellyas, that's NO BULL neither.

got my fingers crossed for the other plays.

Some results are in

Some results are in

Looks like there's still plenty to go with the picks, but so far:

Winners listed so far
Kleybanova., Bammer ("BamBam"), Dent, Monfils (told I got lucky with this one?), Carsten BAll (think I wrote, "Bell" someplace). Oh yeah and Hewitt/Mathieu OVER dang it. More to follow.

Losahs listed so far
Gonzo : I'm very familiar with him and didn't bother to check for any injuries or phys. probs like I do for almost every pick I make. I did see that he played in New Haven last week and drew Stepanek whose (IMO) superior to Dodig. NOT checking further for physical probs. was the mistake. You may get a refund on this one (I don't with 5 Dimes though) cause he retired in this match.

Brianti : she lost the final set 5-7. Poo Poo happens.

Rochus: just a bad pick.

I'm still pissed about missing out on my BESTEST of the day pick and even had the ole :0074 marker for that one. Hewitt/Mathieu OVER dangit. No O/U line when I shutdown EARLY this morning and I just had so much going I totally forgot to get it as a single play (for enough to cover the cost of the dang parlays) today. Can ya believe that .. :mj16: I also forgot to put Juan Carlos Ferrero in the "A" column too. Sorry bout that, but he was a pretty strong favorite anyways.

Best advice I can give now is - after watching Venus play - I think she is strictly a PRETENDER to win the whole thing. One more thing - if YOU'RE thinking about playing a Murray match OVER.. DO IT EVEN IF HIS OPONENT IS A TURKEY. He luvs to make a day of it out there and too often plays with his oponent like he's a yo yo. He'll throw in a 1-6 or 2-6 set out of nowhere only to finish off the oponent later in the match.

It doesn't look like anybody's giving my parlay "system" a shot so there's no sense typing out the next "menu" with the columns and all. But if ya happen to find an order of "Sum Yung Chik" on the menu, order one for me willya? :mj07:

If anybody's thinking of giving this Chinese Resturant thingy a go.... just do exactly the same thing for the second round too. For the 3rd round play half yer plays as single plays and the other half with TWO teamers or THREE favorites. If I see something extra good in the late rounds I'll post.

Good luck the rest of the way and enjoy the tennis -- I luv it.
Oh, if ya play college FB, stop in my thread sometime. I got a spreadsheet that, after doing PLENTY of tweaking to over the past few years, got it to work last season pretty dang good. The deal is NO SYSTEM though; them things don't work. I follow them footballers pretty closely and use the sheet to tell me which ones are best of the plays I like. I may post something for the first week, but I'll share this with my tennis friends (wherever Us are) .... hold off playing anything until the 3rd week. Gotta fatten up the spreadsheet to get the bestest plays. ... and say "hello" if ya do stop in. :)

Rest of results... I think

Rest of results... I think

I thought I'd be done with the results of this thing a couple of days ago, like pulling impacted molars...

ADD these to the WIN column :00hour

Simon, Kohlschrieber (these two, together, did "impact" the ole bankaroo in a good way :), Ferrer, Hanescu, Wawrenka., and Cibulkova.

Think that completes the winnahs.

Add these to the Loss column : :(

Blake : Yeah, NOW the bastage plays like the Blake I used to know  I watched the match and still don't expect him to get much further despite the pretty good draw he's in. Just staying clear of him. BTW, IF I ever (like maybe next year when HOPEFULLY we git some mo tennis fans in here) post Berdych - FADEM. When I don't playem, he crushed his oponent... when I do he TANKS, big time. And NO, I didn't play him today!

Luczek (zak?): No luc with this play. Didn't watch it but I thought Stakhovsky would "bounce".

So far it was a pretty good first rounder for me and just maybe for somebody else out there. I hope so. Looks like maybe just ordering FIVE platters from Chinese menu/ Column "A" is the way to go? :mj03:

Hmmm.. nah, think I won't change a thing.

Misc:
How bout that Tipsarevic last night? Was he on his game or what? Po Roddick, he's gotta get himself some tranquilizers or stronger ones than he's now taking. Regarding Tips... here's another ...er, TIP :) I'd like to share with yas....
An angle that has worked very well for me is the "bounce" (any horsie players out there?) theory. It goes like this - after a player UNEXPECTEDLY OVERachieves by knocking off a top player you fade the overachiever in his/her next match NO MATTER who they play. You know, I expect them to regress to a level even below their usual level of play and pull a "Clisters" or a "Berdych" .....
poop.gif

It works better for men than the ladies. Last two times I played that angle it LOST, but before that it had a long and very profitable winning period cause it producing nice winning doggies. Check it out. (hey, that reminds me, I gotta get Luczak on the "Added Losers' list above.

Good luck football fans (I'm pretty sure that some of the 90+ VIEWERS of this thng are just losed and looking for Jack's FOOTball bawlroom) .... seeyas in the college place and I'll be making the bestest parlays I can (tennis with college ballers .... a REAL tasty combo that has an extremely short season together. I GETEM while they last.).

Good luck the rest of the way and keep an eye on the Scotchman. No need to do that with Rafa, cause he'll be fine.

A word of caution

A word of caution

BE CAREFUL, FOOTBALLERS !

Like BIRDych, the President of the Tanker's Dept. is looking like a new man out there. You know what I mean even without the official "stink bomb" icon.

I wouldav givin anything to have a backhand like his when I used to play in the amatuer tourneys. IMO, he's got the best looking (form wise) backhand in the business.

But Gasquet is a TANKER SUPREME.

That doesn't mean to start fading him cause there's no way of knowing how long the trance that he's in right now is gonna last. I don't like to look ahead and never look at the draws, but if I see the right type of player scheduled to play him, I will be fading the "Gasser".

No need to reply (Ha Hah), just root for Mathieu to pull out his match today/night? ... I need him to pull out another 4 teamer.

G.L.

Ugh :(

Ugh :(

I did it again :s2:

SORRY

I ALWAYS go the forum first when I get online NOT the scoreboard. I did the same thing in Kick's thread the other day when I mentioned that I liked/had Cueves AND THEN closed Jacker's place down, went to the scoreboard and see that he ALREADY won.

Surely, not a good way to make friends and influence peoples even if you don't know who your friends are IF YA (me) GOT ANY :mj07:

Well, I did it again and NOW I see that Mathieu's match is looking like it may be over soon. The good news TO ME that is - he's already up 2sets to zippo. I had that Cilic marathon match on and didn't see anything about Mathieu?

I'm gonna start going to the dang scoreboard first from now on.... . promise.

BTW, I looked and looked for a good FOOTball "show" on YouTube late last night to put in my thread. Just to git alll the great VIEWERS into the football spirit to celebrate it's return. DANGIT, couldn't find a damn thing worhwhile. Ya put FOOTBALL (funny vids, AMERICAN, cartoons, etc. into the search box) to find something entertaining foryas... and come up with about 50 SOCCER vids. and a few Japanese flavored FOOTSball vids.
Can't people (video makers) spell??: :142smilie
well, the word "soccer", anyways.

Good to see you are reading ALL these words of wisdom, Kick. LOL
Thanks for the heads up, but ya gotta send that message to Kohlschieber and Simon... I stood around and waited and waited for them guys to get their match started.

Finally, they did.. but now I gots corns on my feet waiting for them.

VIEWERS - Apparently you folks are still finding this thread so I think I'll continue with my ideas in this "1 rounder" thread. I don't think I'll be posting that often for awhile so it shouldn't get that long. I WILL start a new thread if I post anything for the quarters and later rounds though.

WOW !

WOW !

Stak/Harrison match just finished... WOW!

Anybody follow the Stak "Bounce Angle"?....
.....
.......
........(waiting for hands to go up)....
........... ?
...............:0corn
.....................?

I guess nobody .. and that makes me feel a little better. Woulda felt the agony of de feet that Kick (or was it Keg?) felt the other day with that DeJoka match. I know what the feeling is -> making a GREAT call/pick and got it in the palm of yer hand and watch the dang thing slip right through. I've been that route and prob. you (?) have too and it feels terrible. UGH!

Coulda swore somebody may have given it a try. I looked and looked and looked some more at that matchup cause I THINK Stak is ready to "bounce". During today's match I was getting pretty dang nervous that I blew ANOTHER opportunity to make a little killing cause I just couldn't pull the trigger for the upset late last night. Just too tough to go with such an UNproven player vs. a veteran that is at the top of his game right now.

BTW, Stak is NOT on my current "A" or "B" list. He falls under the catagory of "Special Situations" list (LOL). The play for me would be a single play and not in any parlay. Looks like Serg gets Lopez (the Feliciano variety) and that match sho looks like when the "Sergy Bounce" may come through. I gotta see the odds though, them bounce plays should have positive odds.

Don't forget the Murray Marathons that will be coming up and other bounce opportunities. Obviously, nobody's interested in the specific picks so I won't bore yas with them, but, based on the Views it does look like the window shoppers that may not be serious about tennis are lining up at the door to just SEE what's in here. MY "round 1" ends at the end of the second round (thanks for the heads up, Kick, keeping me aware of the clock. :mj07: ). I guess it's like MY second round starts at the end of the real second round. I start making the plays differently after the END of the real second round. No Chinese menus, I'm stuffed at this point:fit01: .

Not sure about starting a "Rest of OPEN" thread cause i'm up to my ears in sports these days (well, now I gots footsbawlers, still plenty of tennis players, and even a fast horsie now and then). The ONLY other sport I play is baesball and very little of that cept for the post season where I have done really good with in the past. I've learned my lesson about playing them "Dudes of Summer" every dang day. I don't know how anybody can beat that sport by playing it all season long. I can't dats fersho.

One mo thing I was thinkin about... if ya gonna stick with this Harrison young gun, I'd get on his bandwagon immediatly, if not sooner. If he picks up where he left off today... his odds are gonna be prohibitive real quick like cause "America is tennis :D zz". I think he is for real.

Let's keep enjoying the action

and they just keepon commin

and they just keepon commin

Man oh man, what a place. Can't believe over 175 views and something like 10 replies with two people other than myself. And one of them may have landed from Mars

Sheesh.

I waz thinking that 90% of them are just bored and only looking for something new to read, BUT hell - there's still a line out there. The "A" plays are just too long and mostly used up already in pending parlays. But there's "B" listed plays that haven't played yet and that list is getting short so just MAYBE somebody is interested in those ?? Maybe listing those pending "B's" will make the trip in here worthwhile for somebody. If anybody is curious why I like any of these, jump in and let me know and if I get back here before the match starts I can explain.

ONLY PICK ONE that you like cause the % of winners on "B" is MUCH lower than the "A's". I believe these have a shot...

Maria Kirilenko +215: she's playing Kuz.

Clement +530 OR @ +7 1/2 games @ +113 (YUMMY, I think)

Montanes +124

Maryland/Navy UNDER 49... oops, sorry wrong sport :scared

Plenty of all kinds of action today, go getem. (how bout them sharp daggers I wrote about in Rafa's arsenal?)

Thanks for stopping in, Kick

Thanks for stopping in, Kick

Thanks Kick. I go with Dimes cause they are very liberal with their parlay players. Their rule is "complete one set and it's action".:00hour

The idea was to take advantage of a depleted Nishikori (you see his last marathon? He was completely drained) vs. Montanes who is looking better and better on the HARD COURTS. I watched both of his last 2 matches and was impressedd.

Would absolutely LUV to land a BIG FISH today. Clement (ALWAYS think OVER with this guy) actually pulled out the first set. As I write this the lunker that I'm looking to HOOK is winning the second set 2-0 :(

Dang... . . I waz trying to get a dang UTuber in here the way I used to - the OLD FASHIONED WAY which takes some doing. SHEET.. took me 20 mins. to "figure" how to do it the NEW and EASY way Utube let's ya do that these days. Anyways, NOW thems at one set apiece and on serve in the 3rd (Clement match).

Don't know about you, but it's really tough for me to land them BIG uns in tennis..

a dagger to the heart :(

a dagger to the heart :(

SONAMA BEACH (fishing at the beach that is)

He had the freakin FISH halfway out of the water.... . and the bastage comes off the dang hook.

Score one for the FISH vs the fisherMAN :(

Wonder if Fish was taking a page out of Murray's playbook.. you know, run the fisherMAN around in that 4th set (it was 6-1 for the MAN) at the expense of losing that set and saving everything for the final set.

I'm not writing that he was doing that, I dunno? I don't look ahead at the draws, but if he does pull that crap on ANY of the big guns ... there will be a BIG FISH FRY party after that match.
