Today and didnt actually have a plan to put it back together, lol. Actually just picking the new items- sink,tub,toilet...is a lil rough on me and the lady. I gave her an open checkbook and went to the local Hmoe Dpoet and other departments stores thinking she will easily fill in the blanks and gaps...long story short, my bathroom has only the functional toilet in it I left there just thinking this would happen. Anyone have any good "sites" or "ideas" for bathrooms. I picked out a whirlpool tub with jets and massage ports that was my only NEED in the room along with a toilet big enough to sit on without having my scrodums hangout to take care of my solid business.:142smilie as for colors themes and other options: tile, lighting etc... Im open for comments, and suggestions.

Lost in Texas
I know where this is going. I helped a buddy redo the bathroom in his house last month. Tore apart the main bathroom of the house with no plans. It took a full 10 days and his wife wasn't too happy about having to go to friend's homes to take showers. :mj07:

You're a witty one sponge!! LOL. Well not at bad as it seemed, sat lastnight online picking the theme of the bathrooom and style of tub, toilet, and sink. Gonna go Country town square now we are gonna tackle the color scheme tonight. Really more to this then I originally thought. And not worried about having a bathroom for atleast another 2-3 days. I live in very close vacinity of family... my sister lives across the street, as well as her mother and her father living 8 blocks away(if that), so comforts are skewed a little but its not MAJOR. Once this is done I'll be able to relax in the comforts of a new bathroom as well as turn on the jets and get a massage whenever needed:00hour . I see that we have more comedians then general contractors in the forum as well. Thx

I would try to help u but im not sure what ya got over there. I thought i read that u stripped off the drywall and are down to studs. Reading ur post over im not sure where i came up with that. You planning on staying at this house? When i do a bathroom in my house I use the gold standard because i never want to do this room ever again. Make sure if u have the wall and ceiling open u insulate pipes and get all ur plumbing and electrical finished first. Every time i remove a toilet i get a nice little surprise on how wonderful the floor is underneath. Can u see this area from a basement? I just put a toilet in at my mothers and half the flange was rotted away. Shit like that always comes up when u don't even think about it. When u finally put ur baseboard in, chalk the bottom of it in case the toilet ever over flows. U don't want that water dripping in some crawl space or sum shit like that. Who knows when u fill up the tub with the jets u might not think it is that high but i would guess once ur big balls get in the tub, it will possibly overflow and quite possible flood other rooms in the house as well as the neighbors yard and the township pool.

Ok toilet, tub, tile and sink and picked out and ready for order..:00hour First things first...gonna insulate all piping I see exposed (which isn't much) but beings this is an older house everything counts when it comes to saving energy and money on heating and cooling...gonna lay the insulation in the walls and ceiling as well in the morning..then putting down the cement board to prepare the floor for the tile to be laid, this is gonna be fun:mj07:

Run your sheet rock horizontally. Easier to tape and you won't see the seams.

:iagree: I did my basement about 2 months ago, being an older house the entrance to the basement was smaller then the sheetrock was, and since Im no pro at this I decided what the hell just cut the shit and since its being taped and spackled it wont matter, LMFAO!!! After having 2-3 inch gaps and using a bucket of mud quickly I ripped it down and started fresh..this time slice the sheetrock in half wihout actually seperating it, so basically folding it and re opening it when putting it up, worked well but that was one of my 1st remodeling for dummies mistakes I made. But thanls Morris, atleast you are giving me solid tips that will save me time, cost and or headaches....and everyone else that offered anf advice I may have missed, Sponge---floor is in solid shape and I thought of moving the toilet, my buddy is a plumber, but I voted against it all the work just to add an additional roughly 24-36 inches of cabinet space. Will frequently update this thread and check back for any pointers, possibly even post pics if it works out to my liking, or maybe just post them to get a good laugh if I fuck it up enough:mj09:

ur first mistake was buying ur stuff at Home Dumpo. I would go to local plumbing shop for all that stuff. Might be a little more but the quality is ten times better.

Yup--thats the reason I am ripping it out to the frame, as I mentioned it's an older house and the priors had no fan or gable vents...so fan will be inserted on ceiling and running vent to gable vent. Showers or baths at my house ate the type that use the entire tank of hot water PER PERSON!! except myself I am not into scorching showers, so I figured to the vent would not allow moisture to settle in the attic...can't wait to get into the addition this spring, will he doing masterbed/bath and family room addition the current bedroom will be my daughters(5yr old) playroom and the living room will be joined and blended to the current kitchen space to create a dining room, currently theres a smaller eat in kitchen that the lady keeps yelling for more cabinet space and counter space(she's a throwback when it comes to cooking-like grandma and mom used to--no boxed anything, get the flour and milk out). This summer is gonna be an adventure! BUT adding value to the unit isn't something I'll regret. Long way to go and plenty of time to do it,LOL. Thx
