Bryan,

I respectfully disagree.

I checked this matchup at found a hidden statistic. It has to do with Portland State's last 3 games and IDAHO STATE'S last 3 home games.

Portland State last game, road dog loss/cover by 1/2 point. Previous 2 games. Blown out at home both games. If you can't win or cover at home, the road aint gonna be any easier. I understand Portland State did cover in their last road game, but only by a 1/2 point.

IDAHO STATE'S last 3 home games. 3-0 SU. 1-2 ATS
1st game. win/no cover by 2 points.
2nd game. win/no cover by 1 point.
3rd game. win/cover by by 14 points.

IDAHO STATE'S next 2 games were on the road.

They got hammered in the first one.....loss/no cover.
2nd game. loss/no cover by 1 point.

IDAHO STATE's recent play at home with 3 SU wins and 2 ATS losses very close to the number, coupled to Portland State's narrow road cover in their last game, points me in the direction of IDAHO STATE -4.

slight lean twards port st

slight lean twards port st

Port. St. has won 7-8 in this series (lone loss 1 point last season) Looks like 2 evenly matched teams, shooting edge to Portland St.

Port. St.--- fg-----3pt------ft
45%--38%---75%

Id.St. -----40%--31%---67%

Last 5 games Port. st. ave. 81ppg giving up 80ppg

Id. St. ave. 72 ppg giving up 75ppg

Port. st. seems to match up very well here, I'll take the 4 points and alittle MOJO!!!!!!

Good Luck

We can spin these numbers any way we want. I do not look at ATS #'s for CBB. You have to start with a base .Who won, who loss and where.S/U numbers are real. Why would I use a number that I prove wrong everytime I win.You don't name the opponents, do you look at the strength of the opponent?THe match-up is the key for me. I look at the line-up, man by man.GL

Bryan,

It seems as if you know a lot more about handicapping than I do.

I was just curious about something...

Do you think the line has anything to do with quality of opposition,
man-to-man matchups, shooting percentages or anyone of countless other things that you compare?

Or do you just think that's an arbitrary number they pull out of a grab bag?

Like you, I compare things too. We happen to use a different set of comparisons.

My method of handicapping is merely my take on the game.

At my very best, it's an educated hunch.

Good luck tonight.

Alittle courious myself, have you seen either team play this season??? If not how do you compare player vs player without stats???
Not doubting your capping, just looking for a different edge.

I have not seen either team play.I do use player stats. I said I do not use ATS numbers. Thats how you break it down, you use box scores & team stat sheets.Thats why I can not play to many games it takes to long.I look at common opponent box scores to. You work hard and you get lucky. You work hard and you get unlucky.I can do what I am doing right now and get shut out for days, but I stay the course, dont increase my bet and hope the slide is over in three days or it is time to take a day off.Take a day off when you win,at least it gives you the feeling that you are in control. I took a day off this week , I did not bet but I picked my game of the day and it-----------.

Thanx for your input, its good to know your capping stlye. Tough when all you see is someones pick and the spread. Makes picks mean alittle more this way. Good luck!
