Disappointing news from The Sowetan (South Africa) website:

Mbamba fight put on hold
01 October 2009
Bongani Magasela
THE floods that left thousands of people homeless after washing away hundreds of houses in the Mexican state of Vera Cruz have also delayed the WBC super flyweight championship fight between Evans Mbamba and Thomas Rojas.
This fight was to have taken place on Saturday morning.
Promoter Branco Milenkovic, who guides the career of Mbamba, said yesterday that his associates in Mexico gave him the sad news last night.
?The Mexican officials decided to postpone this fight to the end of October,? said Milenkovic yesterday. ?The Mexican government was going to sponsor the fight. It had no choice but to postpone the fight and deal with the worst-affected sides of the province.
?T here is disappointment to our camp but thank God our people are fine and they will be arriving home soon.?
Mbamba, the No 1 contender; his trainer Nick Durandt, assistant Kenneth Mabunda and Durandt?s son Damien arrived in Vera Cruz on Saturday .
Mexico seems to be an unlucky destination for Durandt? s fighters.
En route to Mexico two weeks ago, Durandt and Simphiwe Nongqayi were arrested in Germany in a mix-up over visas.
But Nongqayi left Mexico a happy man after beating Jorge Arce for the IBF super flyweight belt.

Thx for the update Graham. Just wagered Rojas minutes b4 reading this. I took him due to the nice odds - 165. Other sites have him @-275. Based on recent action by the books, I'm expecting to lose that good number and have the bet returned :sadwave:

I think it depends on the book, Romi. Many books keep a wager on the boards for a month in the case of a postponement. I guess it all depends on the book's policy (and the length of the postponement, I guess).
