Nice call on Andreev.

Semi-ballsy call to lay the chalk vs the #3 seed. #3 seed in an alternate universe, of course.

Holy crap are the Americans bad on clay. Was looking at Karlovic vs Blake, but didn't play it. Do we even have clay courts in the USA? I guess there are some, maybe in Florida.

GL, bro.

Thanks for the kind words, goat.

Seedings/rankings should be thrown out the window so to speak.

Brief comments.

Rezai (lost) who was the better player.first serve SUCKED, and she lost money

Andreev (won) Roddick wouldnt lay down and die. Did eventually. Rough.

Id expect both Chela and Ljubcic to advance. Both are favored but Monfils and Waw are coming off 5 set marathons. Monfils was cramping up at the end and Waw had to come back down 0-2. Ljubcic has too big a serve to let something like that happen. Id need +350 or better on Waw.

One play in the books for this afternoon.

Chucky...........to answer your question:

In North America there are very few "red clay" courts. But you may be surprised to know that there are actually quite a few green clay courts in North America. Not to confuse you but there are actually 4 different kinds of "clay" courts. The "green clay" is not real clay it is sythetic clay, best known as "Har Tru". There is quite a difference between real clay (French Open) and sythetic clay. The main one being the bounce and the slide. On red clay you can slide and slide and slide, on har-tru you actually can't slide as much. The Har-Tru is coarse and in rare cases you can actually cut yourself if you fall on it (happened to me a couple times). Also, red clay is a slower surface then har-tru.

Why do so many courts in North America have har-tru instead of red clay...........one very simple reason...........COST! Real red clay is very expensive to maintain.

There......now ya know:SIB

Thx, guys. Good info, kickserv.

I've been around a little and I can't recall ever seeing a true red-clay surface in North America.

Quick question on Nalbandian.

This guy seems to thrive in the majors. And he seems to do well on all surfaces. He likes the clay? Or doesn't mind the clay?

Seems like a great player. Fowler always bugs him for not being in the best of shape.

yep...........David Nalbandian is damn good, and yes he's great on all surfaces and does very very well in the big tourneys.......there is a reason Gael Monfils is the underdog..............BUT

I think the home crowd pulls him through this match, plus Gael Monfils has been playing well of late.....we shall see what happens
