Have a trade offer and was wondering if any of you wise sophisticated Roto players (if any are here) could throw some sage advice my way. It is a 5x5 league, with runs and Ks added. Trade would be me receiving Dunn $24, DeJean $5 and Helms $5 for Pierre $8, Durazo (DL) $5 and a choice from me between Armas $4 and Odalis Perez $7. Need power and rbi and could use another closer. But not strong in ratio/era either. We have a $20 salary cap cushion so Dunn's salary can be absorbed but did counter to try and get Berkman $4 from him. Sound like a fair trade to you guys? Thanks in advance. kurby

Been playing roto for years and won 3 different national contests doing so (about $35K).... so I kinda know what I'm doing (although I'm sure there is always someone who would debate that)...

Without seeing your roster and standings of your league, it would be difficult to say for sure, but this much I do know:

1. Pierre is a god - Stolen bases are so hard to come by, and he will get 50-60 this year.... I'd hang on to him for $8.....

2. Durazo will be very good this year - he will be starting full time for AZ when he comes up from rehab in a week (at least everything I read says he has the 1st base job, with Grace going to the bench).... Durazo will be very, very good...

Dunn is a good player - no speed, but tons of power... but he is $24.....so he is not much of a value, worth $30 at the most...

DeJean may not be the closer the whole year, as Leskanic and Fox will probably be back... he is a shaky closer at best... kinda like Herges in MTL..

I don't have much use for Helms... yes, I know he is starting, but knowing the braves, they'll trade for a 1st basemen to fill that hole during the year....

Armas is a nice pitcher, and Perez has been awesome so far, and of course you have to love LA pitchers due to the homepark pitching advantage....

Personally, I wouldn't do it unless you have a good chance to win this year and have a lot of stolen bases to offer.... tough to give up Pierre.... and Durazo, while he won't hit as many HR's as Dunn, will give you solid BA and RBI's the rest of the season.

Just my 2 cents worth...

Thanks for replying Mags. The guy making the offer is in 2nd and I am in 7th out of 11 teams. Season is young so don't want to give it up. Funny you should mention Herges, he is my only closer. Picked up Vizcaino on the Brew Crew thinking he might luck into it if DeJean falters. Anyway, I tend to agree with you in not doing it. Plus I can keep Pierre 1 more year at a 20% increase in salary. My offense is way down in power and rbi but if Durazo can stay healthy and play, if Ensberg starts coming on and if JD Drew can stay healthy it might end up good enough to contend. Sosa is my main guy. Good luck...
