The Seattle Mariners look to make it five straight wins tonight when they host the Kansas City Royals in the first of a three-game set.

The Mariners own the best record in the AL this season at 28-15 and return home tonight following a successful road trip to Cleveland and Detroit where they won five of six games. Seattle have scored at least six runs in six of their last seven games so Kansas City may struggle to match them offensively tonight. Ryan Franklin starts for the Mariners and the right-hander is an impressive 2-0, 1.96 ERA his last three outings and 3-2, 3.58 ERA overall this season. Seattle are 5-1 in Franklin's last six starts.

Following a fast start the Royals have lost three straight to fall back to 24-18 and second place in the AL Central. Runelvys Hernandez heads to the hill for KC tonight but they have lost his last four starts. The right-hander has a 5.89 ERA during his losing streak but overall this season is 4-3, 2.79 ERA.

The Mariners have won four straight games in this series and have outscored the Royals 48-22 in these meetings. In fact Seattle has won all but one season series against Kansas City since 1997.

Seattle are 10-0 recently in Game 1 of a series following a win and we expect them to improve on that record tonight.
