Pumpkin, no match lines up yet in UK - any in Aus??

They'll be some massive handicaps:eek:

I'm going to go through all the props over the weekend, so I'll try + post anything I come up with. I'm sure Crooky will do the same ;) + hopefully you Aussies will let us know what you find. Maybe even Anders will come out of 'retirement' :)

Good luck

I saw the first match handicaps this evening, both with Aussie firms. They are offering Argentina fourteen points for Fridays opener.

I will be opening up a World Cup thread on Monday or Tuesday, but with a week off, I will be spending a lot of time looking at props before Friday.

Hi Pumpkin, hope you don't mind me popping in here to give you and others my initial plays. A word of warning though, this is not one of my sports that I can claim much success at. With that said I was taken by some of the markets and prices on offer. One or two of them stand out as value and others are optamistic.

Top Try Scorer in Tournament

With the likely semi finals being Australia, France, New Zealand and England we must look for the top tryscorer to come from one of these four countries. Australia and england have the poorer countries in terms of quality in their groups so my attention turned to them. Australia have struggled recently in the Tri-Nationa and they never appear to rack up a cricket score against the minows, that said this year may be different as players play for a permanant spot in the starting XV.

Ben Cohen is one of the best defensive and attacking wingers in the game today and Jason Robinson from full back offers flair and tremendous speed. Cohen has been in sintillating form in recent internationals and at 10/1 this offers some value. This will be a small play due to the fact that England have players all over the park that can cross the line and their forwards have scored more trys on an average per game than any other international playing country.

My other selection comes from New Zealand and this player has been dynamite recently with hat-tricks against both South Africa and Australia. Step forward J. Rokocoko. This is his chance to shine on the biggest rugby stage and to show the Kiwi's that there is live after Jonah.

Top Tournament Point Scorer.

This should be won by a kicker and there is no one better in the world right now than Johnny Wilkinson. This man is a phenomenon. Shane Spencer for Nerw Zealand is not in the same class as this man. Although 2/1 is a short price I see this as money in the bank barring injuries. England beware of South Africa who I am sure will go out of their way to injure the English star once again. Wilkinson has a good chance of beating both the highest total points by an individual in any game and the tournament.

Top Try Scorer

1 point Rokocoko @ 7/1 (Ladbrokes)
1 point Cohen @ 10/1 (Ladbrokes)

Top Try Scorer For Their Country

1.5 points Cohen @ 5/2 (Paddy Power)
1.5 points Rokocoko @ 3/1 (Paddy Power)

Top Tournament Point Scorer

2 points J. Wilkinson @ 2/1 (Sporting Odds)

OTHERS

0.75 points J. Wilkinson @ 4/1 (Ladbrokes) to beat Grant Fox's record of 126 points in the tournament.

0.5 points J. Wilkinson @ 8/1 (Ladbrokes) to beat most points scored by an individual player in a World Cup match. (currently 45 points).

One player that might be worth looking into for top point scorer is Derick Hougaard from RSA. He will be the back up to Koen for the main games and should be 1st choice against the minnows. There was 50-1 around for him at the moment

The Canucks aren't the worst team in the comp. That being said they can't win the whole thing and the $3001 is unders. They may just sneak through to the Quarter Finals. They are a very rough Chance against Wales and a fair chance against Italy and I think they'll beat Tonga

Kyle,

Canada will do alright. I cant see Wales smashing them, but on ability they will pull through in the end. They have a good chance of beating Tonga and then who knows what they can do against Italy.
