Well, I have been away from the forum over the last month or so, mainly due to increased working hours, thanks to the summer horse racing programme. :(

However, a few days off, has given me a chance to catch up with my rugby record on Madjacks. As it is officially the end of the season, after today, it was a ideal time for me to look back over the rugby season, which seems like it has gone on for ever.

Firstly, the Heineken Cup finished last Saturday. Anybody who followed my Heineken Cup picks throughout the season would know that I have been pretty sweet on Toulouse from day one.

In Round Two of the Heineken Cup back in October, I tipped up Toulouse (14/1) and Biarritz. (20/1)

In the 5th round, I made the following quote : For those looking to have a outright bet on the tournament, then I have to recommend Toulouse (12/1) as my team to take the glory this year. As a value bet, dont waste any time and get stuck into a bit of Llanelli (20/1), who providing they can win home advantage in the latter stages of this tournament will be very difficult to beat.

By the 6th Round, I had actually posted Llanelli and Toulouse (9/2) as ante post bets to win the Heineken Cup.

Toulouse beat Perpignan last weekend to take Heineken Cup glory. The tourament has been superb throughout, and I cannot wait until next seasons tournament, especially with the addition of the new look Welsh provinces. :D

Secondly I want to look at the Super 12. What was a brilliant tournament in terms of standards, was very difficult to handicap. After reviewing my finals plays, I did not do as bad as I had thought, but the fact I only advised a total nineteen bets on the tournament, proves that I was hardly confident at any point in the season.

Finally, International Rugby has been equally frustrating. Before the beginning of the Six Nations, I was 8-3 on rugby at the top level. However, a dreadful Six Nations tournament meant I finish up with disappointing figures, in something I consider to know back to front.

Backing Wales on the spread contributed to a lot of my losses, but it all ended in tears, when Ireland failed to convert the Grand Slam which would have netted me a small fortune, having advised them at 20/1 (Grand Slam) and 10/1 (Six Nations).

Overall, I have posted a success rate of over 60% for the season.

I understand that there are people who use this site, that bet far more than ?100 a unit on their selected sport. However, I am delighted to make ?2880 on rugby this season. Add that to nearly ?1000 profit on snooker, and I am starting to think that for the first time in my life, I am starting to know what to do at this game, having won now for three years running.

I am not going to make secret of the fact, that having started betting by the age of 16-17, I lost quite a bit in the first few years. I look back now to what I was like in those days, and cannot believe it. Popping into a bookies to bet race to race will never net you any winnings, while betting heavily on something, just for the sake of watching a event on TV, will equally lead to disaster just as quickly. However, I firmly believe that the best way to learn is to have those losing years to begin with, and my main learning points is to stick to the sports you know, and if you need to bet other sports, then find somebody else who knows that sport.

I know I am going on a bit here, but there may well be somebody reading who is in the same position I was in a few years ago, and what I am saying might well help.

Apart from the obvious reason of trying to help other people with winners, the main reason I post my bets on the site, is that it helps to maintain discipline, and it is easier to keep a recorded track of your bets, having them documented at the sight. It saves loads of time going though all your accounts looking over past plays with each and every book.

I was referred to the site by Anders, who due to his work commitments cannot post around here any more. However, I really wish I had discovered the site earlier. Some of the advice you can pick up on this site is invaluable, besides the friends you can make. A big thanks must go to Jack for running the site, although I do not know him, or have little to no contact with him, but he may well be reading this post.

It is quite ironic that despite being a American based site, some of the more valuable postings are either from this 'Off The Wall' section, or the 'On The Links', sections of the site. Some of the work Stanley and his butties do over there, is quite incredible. Put this together with Hoss, whose rugby postings have been top class, Kickserv and others who do a top job with tennis, Pawaqatsi and his Aussie Rules systems, and even 1837 and his movie picks (I really miss your Motor Sport postings!!):D , and the 'Bulldog' with all his posts, and it becomes obvious that it is a class site if you are a sports gambler. (Apologies if I have missed anybody-I am sure I have!)

Anyway, the majority of International rugby teams fly out aborad for a summer of rugby next week. I am dreading Wales tour of the Southern Hemisphere  . But the summer should give us a good opportunity to start the new season in the balck, so check back here for future plays. ;)

Good Luck :)

England, u.k.
Thanks for the update Crooky and the kind words.

As you are aware I have taken on several committments over the last few months and that is why members here at Madjacks have seen fewer plays from me lately.

All must check the community pages of mine every day or so as I am still posting there. Now up +160 points.

Cricket plays will resume with the one day internationals and the test series against South Africa.

I will be posting plenty of soccer plays for all leagues over europe from late August this year, and plenty of others titbits.

Crooky I have enjoyed all your postings on the Rugby and played a great number of them. Thankyou :toast: :thumb:  I missed your early postings in the snooker but it's great to see you stick it to the books again.

You have done a marvelous job over the last 10 months and I hope that next season goes just as well for you if not better.

THANK YOU BUDDY
