After finishing the first part of the European Club Rugby at 87% we turn our attentions to the November Rugby Internationals which will take us up to the 2nd round of the Heineken Cup which starts in December.

Wales vs Romania (+45)

I dont think the Romanian team who were slaughtered 127-0 by England will turn up tonight.
With Wales picking a young experimental side headed by rugby legend Neil Jenkins, it is a bold move by Welsh coach Steve Hansen. Playing outside of Cardiff and in the soccer dominated part of North Wales, Wrexham is a strange venue for a Rugby International.
Romania have most of their team playing in the competitive French league, and are a big strong team, probably the better of the so called lesser nations playing rugby these days. Although frustratingly inconsistent, having good results against Ireland and Italy followed by drubbings against Wales and England, there have been positive signs coming out of their training camp this week. With the Welsh team seemingly admitting that this affair will be a lot closer tonight, the 45 point start offered by Paddy Power seems a good bet.

1 Point Win Romania (+45) at 5/6 with PaddyPower (if this line is unavailable then take the 42 points offered by Ladbrokes)

Wales 40-3 Romania

Do not kid yourselves into thinking that covering the handicap was close. Wales were awful.....Romania missed four simple kicks which meant that they should have scored at least 15 points more than they did. Most of the Wales tries came in the last ten minutes, and I was sat throughout the match knowing that we were going to cover the handicap.

DOMESTIC RUGBY : 10/12 (83%) +7.21 Units

crookycymru - I was just scanning this area for some boxing talk when i noticed your posts on rugby - i watched a little bit of it about a year ago as i lived next door to 8 irish guys who were in the states for the summer - anyway, do you have any suggestions for a sportsbook on the internet where i could lay some rugby action - thanks

1837....you will have to get some offshores!!! ;)

Cameron there are a lot of books offering prices on rugby. If you were prepared to open an account with a European book then try either of the following :

Eurobet
Ladbrokes
William Hill
Bet 365
Sporting Odds
BlueSquare

The good news is that all of the above accept Visa/Mastercard and all welcome international visitors. I do believe there are some Carribean based offshores that offer rugby as well. I do know Olympic lay rugby for one, but you would have to look into the others.

If you need the addresses of the books above, then get Jack to give you my e-mail address and mail me
:)

Just a quick note to say I have no play on todays Argentina-Australia game.

This will be a tough task for the Aussies, as playing in Buenos Aries in front of thousands of mad screaming Argentinians is not easy. Put this together with the huge Argentinian pack, and the excellent Pichot-Quesada partnership at halfbacks and you can see what a mountain the Oz face today.

However betting against Australia can be dangerous. There is no doubt that the Aussies are the better rugby side, but under relatively new coaching, they are a fairly unknown outfit in terms of how they are going to play today. Yes the big names are all there, but after a lengthy lay off since the tri-nations, you may want to look for the Aussies to peak a few more matches down the line. If they turn up today and play to their capability then they will win, but at this stage I lean towards Argentina with a ten point start with www.sportingodds.com.

Good Luck should you decide to play!! :p

Argentina 6-17 Australia

Wise decision to pass on this game last night. The handicap between 6-10 points was definitely right. Australia were quite poor, and had Contepomi kicked his kicks for the Argies, then they could well have won this one. The scoreline flatters Australia and they will have to improve as they travel to GB + Ireland for the continuation of their tour.

Cameron, did you find any books??

Will be back posting on the 8th/9th November for the Ireland-Australia, England-New Zealand games.

crooky - thanks for all of the info - i checked all of the websites and they all offer rugby, but only the outright winners of the tourney or of their respective pools - maybe this is all they have listed b/c there are no games taking place today or in the next couple of days? - what do you think? am i out of luck or will each game be up for wagering once it gets closer to game time?

Cameron,

If you looked at the sites later than Saturday night, then yes you would only have found tournament betting. Rugby is not like the NFL where lines are up almost immediately after the teams finish playing. There are about five rugby internationals for us on Saturday, so you should see lines available from Thursday and maybe even as late as Friday with some books.

I will start posting this weeks games from Friday and will list what time (GMT) these matches start. This should help those betting abroad, in order for you not to miss the games.

Any more questions, then dont be afraid to ask!! ;)

Just to add I have just come back from watching Fiji play tonight. They have genuine pace in the packs, and their ball handling skills at times was unbelievable. They play Wales on Saturday, and I feel they can score against us ;)

Will be interesting to see the lines and how much Fiji have as a start. See you all Friday!!! :p
