Being a newbie to the ice.....

Curious to know what rule changes have been installed to increase scoring, (or at least raise the posted totals while at the same time more or less balancing out the over/under ratio...)

Also curious.....have watched a couple of shootouts via the sports ticker.....

Are there ties anymore or what happens after the initial shootout ends scoreless or tied?

Perhaps after the end of the shootout each team puts someone out on the ice and the winner is the one who throws a chair the farthest....Dallas Stars hire Bobby Knight and put him in for the chair toss? :)

B'ham,AL.
If a game remains tied after the five-minute, four-on-four overtime period, the teams will engage in a shootout, in which three skaters aside take alternating penalty shots against the opposing goaltender. If still tied after three shots per team, 'sudden-death' shots will be taken to determine a winner.
