Hey Guys,
I am going to have to disagree. Yes, I am a Rutgers fan, but this is not a homer decision. If you look at the depth charts on paper, the Rutgers linemen outweight the UNH linemen by 50 pounds. This is the not the same Rutgers team that lost to Villanova 2 years ago (yes it happened). This is why Coach Schiano will not let the team "look ahead".
If you saw the MSU game, RU drove very well on MSU but broke down in the red zone. These things happen in game one, but they're fixed. UNH just doesn't have the horses. Delaware is the returning champs, but they lost A LOT of talent from last years' team to the NFL.
I see this as another 55-10 game, similar to the University of Buffalo's first trip to Rutgers.
I don't think UNH will be able to run on Rutgers. MSU wasn't able to, and UNH won't. Will UNH be able to pass with it's starting QB out for the year? They're relying on a redshirt freshman at QB. UNH doesn't have the same type of receivers as MSU. Rutgers blocked a punt vs MSU. How many will they block vs UNH? Schiano won't run up the score on UNH, but Rutgers has a lot of depth. The 2nd team running back, Pittman, ran for 100+ yards AT Tennessee two years ago. I dont see UNH having the athletes to keep up.
I could see a 35-3 at the half. Then the Rutgers 2nd team will come in. These guys are talented, young football players. They're Greg Schiano's recruits who has recruited 4 of the best RU classes ever in his 4 year tenure. I would be confident with the RU 2nd team vs UNH's first team, straight up. From 35-3 at the half, it'll go to 52-10.
Rutgers has the advantage on offense, defense and special teams. Rutgers is at home. Rutgers is mentally ready. Rutgers has no significant injuries. The Rutgers 2nd team running back is no slouch. RU will get a big lead and run to ball to take time off the clock...they can't help it if the 2nd team back breaks a big run.
