U.S.A. young talent pipeline is going to be wrestlers. Give Bader time, maybe he'll head kick a guy into la-la land like Hamill did in his last fight.

Am I incorrect in thinking that most of the wrestlers we see are in the heavier weight classes (like Bader).

I would like to see a squirrely wrestler get in a good gym to see what he can learn. Wrestling is a great background to come from if you can use it as your base and build from there.

i thought Bader was fine last night. Sheese what was it his second real fight? I thought he did some decent work on the ground trying to pass the guard. Wasn't like watching a Clay Guida bore fess. His hands are not that bad for just learning how to throw. How about we let him develop a little.

Ryan Bader was a winner over Carmelo Marrero but lacked explosiveness at times. There may have been a reason. Bader told Cage Writer that he felt his knee pop in the first round. He was told by the doctor on scene at the Sommet Center that he there was looseness in the knee that Bader may have torn his MCL. He mentioned that the left knee was swelling but is hoping that he didn't tear the ACL as well.

Wrestling and ground and pound are destroying MMA in the USA.

UFC used to be so exciting, but they just had to get sanctioned.
Ryan Bader is not a mixed martial artist. Just like Brock Lesner isnt. But Lesner doesnt have to be.

Bader will get destroyed the minute he fights an experience quality fighter. Marrero is not even an average quality fighter. All Bader did was hug him and lay on him. Wow thats exciting

I think wrestling is just as much of a martial art in this context as anything else. The problem is that the rules on judging haven't progressed with this addition.

Wrestlers are getting way too much credit for time on top with no action. Many bjj guys prefer to work from their back working submissions, but without punches, the wrestler is going to be scoring more points.

My feeling is that the UFC knows this more than anyone and will be inlfuencing the rules to be updated.

Nicely put Dawg.

Ive been an MMA fan since the beginning. Dana White should have been fired a long time ago. But his 2 buddies own the UFC so he's probably not going anywhere.

The UFC needs to have a stand up division and a ground division and also a super heavy weight division. You could bring over Hong man choi, Bob Sapp and a few more very interesting super heavyweights.

When Brock Lesnar is your heavyweight champ of Mixed Martial Arts you know your not quite doing something right.

And I like Brock and who knows, maybe one day with the continued training he may actually be more than just a wrestler.

Gotta go

Ah i think that was my point about Bader.
It is okay to let Brock develop but with Bader u give him two fights on the big stage and the first one he knocked the guy out  Nothing was more boring then watching Brock ground and lay on heath for three rounds.

I agree. The worst one to lay on people is Clay Guida though. Some of his fights are so brutal!

i remember watching the first several UFC events during high school.

at the time, the coolest end to a fight that i had seen was when Pat Smith jetted across the ring as soon as the bell rung and landed a flush straight leg kick to the guy's chest. I thought he was the baddest dude in the world until i saw gracie in action. he was so unmatched at the time.

I disagree about dana white. it's probably time for him to go, but he deserves a LOT of credit for bringing this sport to where it is. he, too, is in need of some adjustments to where the sport is today as opposed to when he started. his asshole approach to contract were fine when there were no other outlets, but for the ufc to stay on top they will need new leadership to grow further.
